I had only just read the Bristol Post article and then popped onto the forum - sinking feeling in my gut and that same old same old feeling of total frustration regarding the ownership and direction the club yet again seems to be going, it’s bl**dy depressing. Who would be a Gas Head 🙄

Reading the old stories posted on the south stand thread, the biggest issue (and why Mem redev has been called a non-starter) will be the planning around any added facilities. If there are bars, restaurant, gym or the like, the restrictions on time it can be open and used may scupper its value. Pirate - why are you convinced the post story is 1) accurate and 2) it will all be Rovers fault? We can assume, and history says its a good guess, but do you know more or are you just theorising? The football club have had over 24 hours to refute the claims made in the press and as the silence is deafening we can only presume the article is accurate. Whilst I’m inclined to agree the club never say anything. Ever. However I do feel the club have been eerily silent since the week leading up to the transfer window closing and think something odd is going on at the club.

I heard that the stadium has actually been built in a secret location and will be transported to the site shortly. This other stuff is just a smoke screen to cover this situation.

Disregarding social media or BEP , there is just one vague story on the JCH collapse saying late changes to the deal prevented it happening.( club site )
Apart from that nothing ,considering the FM saga , the south stand going up ,stopping , going up again.
Yet the only noise is coming from us second guessing till we're blue ( or blue and white ) in the face.

And 2) Maybe they were stringing us along as BCC insisted we were involved. A million reasons they could have collapsed. With Wael's recent enthusiastic and excitable update and after years of 'negotiations' even you would have expected some sort agreement to at least be in place for one of, 1. the size of the stadium, 2. the capacity of the stadium, 3. the area of the site it would take up, 4. the cost of it all and how it will be funded, plus 5. how the revenue share would work.

Exactly that. In four years if you havnt at least had some inclination given as to what the terms are then I'm sorry I call bullsh*t. Its an absolute cluster fu*k and there's no defending it imo. You can't go from releasing a video like they did to suddenly the terms are not favourable. Only the club eventually coming out and saying exactly what conygar changed and how it made it unacceptable after 4 bloody years of talks will suffice.

I think Wael has known this for a few months and sold to the new owners, thereby getting his money back, since after two failed stadium attempts he's reached the end of his particular road. Expect a formal announcement soon that it's all off and a statement from Wael saying he's leaving the club and wishes the new owners well etc etc. Just guessing of course.

I'd love to see Rovers in a new Stadium but I have always had a bad feeling regards the Fruit Market, something has never sat right with me about it' and its location.

Gut instinct tells me this is just the beginning of a very bad period for the club. Maybe not and maybe overreacting, but that's my gut.
The stadium deal collapsing is so odd given the effective announcement only a few months back. Just all so odd.
Then factor in the JCH deal falling through so avoidably, the new investment to owners that I wonder whether are just a figment of my imagination, generally very little comms from the club whatsoever... it's all just... odd.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Wael saying he's taken us as far as he can. But then given we apparently sidestepped several offers so that he could retain a share, that too would be odd.
It's crazy that just over a week ago, Proboards almost collapsed due to the traffic caused as we looked to utterly decimate our transfer record. Just over a week on, that never materialised - in the most humiliating of fashions - and the stadium that was basically announced is now seemingly not happening either.
Would not be surprised to see Barton walk if we don't start picking up maximum points in the next 4-5 weeks.
One thoroughly, thoroughly dejected Gashead.

As I said a few pages back. Some need to get some perspective. Or if coming up with the worst possible scenarios helps you, go for it. I’m gonna have a beer and watch England lose to Scotland.

Possibly, a counter argument could be that the JCH transfer was a genuine cockup/human error, we had a verbal go ahead from planning for the South Stand (naivety) and stitched up by Conygar iro the FM. None of which evidences a malign influence or otherwise. Truth is, we don't know and are filling in a lot of gaps. Maybe there is something, maybe not.

Get where you're coming from on most of this , but surely us not picking up points in the near future is down to JB?
There's on the pitch and off the pitch , and tbh by 15 games if we are still down by the drop zone , I wouldn't be too gutted if JB did one...

This forum is 10 years old.
There are posters sadly long since departed who used to wonder if they would ever see a new/decent stadium in their lifetime.
I secretly used to be amused and bemused by that feeling. It will happen all in good time, I thought.
I turned 50 this year and now I'm one of the people wondering if I'll ever see a new stadium in my lifetime.
My best guess is in another 10 years time the Mem will slowly rot and be pulled down with temporary South stand structures all around it. Although, we probably won't have planning permission for any of them.

Hopefully the club as a whole have stopped paying any attention to that rag of a so called publication. Great if you want to know what Helen Flanagan is doing this week. Don't blame the club for not bowing to one of Murdochs rags.

Whatever. UTFG and Come on Scotland. 🏴☠️ What more proof do you want apart from a BP article, who must have got the info from either Rovers or CI? If was totally incorrect I'm sure we would have seen a statement refuting the story and saying that talks are still ongoing. I guess there's a chance of some brinkmanship by Rovers to try and force CI to make a better offer but the collapse of the JCH followed by this news breaking does make you wonder if the new owners have told Wael a few home truths about how they intending spending they have any money assuming they have money to spend.
