Hope so! 🏴 Nobody knows the Fruit Market is off yet, do they? Loads of conjecture, no proof.
Whatever. UTFG and Come on Scotland. 🏴☠️ What more proof do you want apart from a BP article, who must have got the info from either Rovers or CI? If was totally incorrect I'm sure we would have seen a statement refuting the story and saying that talks are still ongoing. I guess there's a chance of some brinkmanship by Rovers to try and force CI to make a better offer but the collapse of the JCH followed by this news breaking does make you wonder if the new owners have told Wael a few home truths about how they intending spending they have any money assuming they have money to spend. The Bristol Post has as much credibility as the current prime minister. None. It may well be so that the deal is off, but why should the club kowtow to that rag, or a few angry people behind keyboards. I'll look at this thread again tomorrow when you'll probably have argued with yourself, Topper. 🏴☠️🏴

I'd love to see Rovers in a new Stadium but I have always had a bad feeling regards the Fruit Market, something has never sat right with me about it' and its location. I have to say that I am also on this idea. It would be so much better and probably cheaper to be in the north and out of the city. The location of the FM is not right. I just hope that Wael is not "gone" and that he helps us through the next period of our "possible" developement. Where ?? When - soon please.....

A point being missed by some is that the FM capacity would be linked to the build cost, value of the Mem site and any other funding. It might be better value staying at the Mem than moving to a stadium slightly bigger and giving away a percentage of income for the privilege.

This forum is 10 years old. There are posters sadly long since departed who used to wonder if they would ever see a new/decent stadium in their lifetime. I secretly used to be amused and bemused by that feeling. It will happen all in good time, I thought. I turned 50 this year and now I'm one of the people wondering if I'll ever see a new stadium in my lifetime. My best guess is in another 10 years time the Mem will slowly rot and be pulled down with temporary South stand structures all around it. Although, we probably won't have planning permission for any of them. Likewise......I turned 50 back in July and I genuinely do not if I'll ever see a new stadium with the time I may have left (20 to 30 years) with some luck and I've already been waiting since 1979

Why would the FM developers want a stadium on the site when it could reduce the value and space for new housing?

It’s all so sad.

Just remember peeps that these new guys were sold to us as being the owners who could help us achieve our aims more quickly. Not looking that way is it ?

The video about moving to the FM - I thought why do that without an agreement in place? I don't think there was any intention to mislead fans.To me it seemed more like an advert for investment in the potential of the club. If Wael had the funds, it was viable and able to cover losses in the meantime then I'm sure he would have done it himself.

As possibly being one of the oldest posters on here by a country mile, I’m resigned to the likelihood that I will not see a new stadium or a fully re-developed Mem in my lifetime - feel pretty sad about this situation, but it is what is. I’ll be be still turning up at every home match and some away until they nail the lid down

Gut instinct tells me this is just the beginning of a very bad period for the club. Maybe not and maybe overreacting, but that's my gut. The stadium deal collapsing is so odd given the effective announcement only a few months back. Just all so odd. Then factor in the JCH deal falling through so avoidably, the new investment to owners that I wonder whether are just a figment of my imagination, generally very little comms from the club whatsoever... it's all just... odd. I wouldn't be shocked to see Wael saying he's taken us as far as he can. But then given we apparently sidestepped several offers so that he could retain a share, that too would be odd. It's crazy that just over a week ago, Proboards almost collapsed due to the traffic caused as we looked to utterly decimate our transfer record. Just over a week on, that never materialised - in the most humiliating of fashions - and the stadium that was basically announced is now seemingly not happening either. Would not be surprised to see Barton walk if we don't start picking up maximum points in the next 4-5 weeks. One thoroughly, thoroughly dejected Gashead. Totally agree with this …

TBH I never believed in the FM site and didn't want it.
My heart broke when the UWE stadium was binned by Wael and I will be happy seeing out my days at the Mem.
Maybe 10 - 15 years worth if I am lucky.

I'm confused why Wael sold (assuming money has now exchanged hands) 55% of his shareholding to the new owners if they can't now progress the club by financing a new stadium, unless his money was starting to run out and he had to sell up purely on financial grounds and the new owners simply made him the best offer for his shares.

Why would the FM developers want a stadium on the site when it could reduce the value and space for new housing? More money seems the obvious answer? Plus in the short term who's going to want to live on the FM site as it's hardly an attractive area to live at present?

I'd imagine most fans are angry full stop not just behind keyboards.

The prospect of housing there may seem unattractive at the moment but it's a good location as central and good transport links. Why risk that in return for 10% of pie sales?

The rovers hierarchy get away with so much by taking advantage of the room temperature IQ of so many of the fanbase. Nice attitude

I guess we are all holding onto that the club havent actually released a statement saying they are looking at other options after FM deal has collapsed.
It really would be nice to have to something positive from the club.
