Defence get some marks for their clean sheet, but their distribution was as bad as the midfield, the crosses were woeful today. Surely a player like Tomlinson would have been worthy of the shirt of any one of those midfielders today, or of nichols.
Crowd 4 - quietest I've heard the Mem in a long time, but hardly surprising. Ref 5 - No better or worse than the players on display. Wycombe 5 - awful to watch, but they did their job and could have pinched the three points at the end.

We’re going to play a high pressing game full of pace and physicality, get on the front foot early, take the game to the opposition and ping lots of crosses in to create chances for the strikers to get the crowd onside early doors. Practice that for a month and a half and then abandon it all immediately because Wycombe are in town and it’s windy. Both sides settled for a point before the coin toss had been performed - just grim!
Jaakkola 6 Little NOLE Leahy 5 Davies 6 Craig 6 Upson 5 Ogogo 5 Clarke 4 Sercombe 6 Nichols 4 Adeboyejo 6

MOTM - any of the subs who warmed up but did not get on

Lacklustre all round. One to forget.

Jaakkola 7 A little bit shaky
Little nole Davies 7.5 Effective Craig 7.5 MOM Effective Leahy 6.5 Not too bad defensively but not the force going forward that we had been led to believe
Upson 7 Must be an absolute pig to play against Ogogo 5.5 Not very effective Sercombe 5.5 Pretty good first half, disappeared in the second Clarke 4 One to forget
Nichols 4 Got muscled off the ball time and time again. Wasted chances. So frustrating. Adeboyejo 5.5 Not much to say
Subs:Hare 6 Did ok Clarke-Harris 6 Rusty Bennett 5.5 Ineffective
Crowd 6 Why so few? Ref 6 Generally ok Wycombe 5 That number 20's a big fella isn't he?

jaakkola: 6. very nervy start, gained confidence as the game went on. Hopefully first cleansheet settles him in.
Little: NOLE Davies: 7. Given a tough task up against akinfenwa, while he didn’t win every ball he stuck at it for the full 90 minutes and looks to me like he could be a very good signing. Craig: 8 MOTM. Very close call between Craig and Davies for motm. Craig for me hardly put a foot wrong all game and his experience and leadership are becoming more and more important to BRFC. Leahy: 5. Not a game for him to remember, seemed subdued attacking wise and the few times he did get forward his final ball was not up to standard. Caught out defensively on to many occasions, this may be down to the lack of support in front of him but needs to improve his defending on this showing.
Upson: 5. Won the ball back and broke up attacks well in the second half after being largely anonymous in the first. There was a spell in the second half where he looked to get his foot on the ball and play but apart from that did very little Ogogo: 5. Worked hard and put himself about the pitch just seemed to lack that little bit of composure on the ball. Reminded me of Sinclair yesterday, works hard but not the best technically, needs creative players around him to bring out his best IMO Sercombe: 4. Couple of neat touches and a well struck free kick, but that is all he done. ATM I think he needs to be taken out of the team as he is offering nothing which is a shame as we know what he is capable of. Clarke: 4. As poor a performance from Clarke as I have seen in some time. Looked as though he didn’t know what role he was supposed to be playing. Was often to far away from the forwards and never really in the game defensively. I hope being captain isn’t going to put to much pressure on him and will affect his performances.
Nichols: 5. Frustrating performance from him again. Nichols is clearly not the answer up front, offers us nothing as a striker in the system we played yesterday. Service to him was none existent but did put himself about and never gave up. Adeboyejo: 7. Did very well considering the poor service, looked strong, sharp and always wanted the ball. Promising showing from him and was unlucky with the chance which hit the post. Faded late on and looked tired. Potential to have a good season for us alongside JCH
Subs:Hare: 6. Looked comfortable for the majority of the game after a surprise early substitution. Defended well but the same as Leahy looked subdued going forward. Clarke-Harris: 5. Lifted the crowd when he came on, we did seem to try to play to feet more when he came on. Fired a free kick into the wall but apart from that didn’t really get into the game. But very encouraging to see him back Bennett: NOLE.
Crowd: 4. Surprisingly quiet for a season opener at home. Weather forecast probably kept a lot of fans away, hopefully yesterday’s attendance is not a sign of things to come. Very little on the pitch to excite the crowd or get any sort of atmosphere going Ref: 5. Seen better seen worse Wycombe: 4. Seen nothing from Wycombe which would suggest they will not be in and around the relegation zone come the end of the season.

Jaakkola 5.5 - no costly mistakes but did not inspire confidence
Little NOLE Davies 7 - did ok - pick of the bunch Craig 6.5 - mainly steady Leahy 6 - mixed bag. Too many wasted balls but played his part in a reasonably solid back four
Upson 5.5 - did ok first half blunting Wycombe attacks. Faded after the break. Lacks the pace to be truly effective. Ogogo 4 - very poor compared to his friendly appearance against Swansea pre-season when he was very good. Seemed unsure of his role. Sercombe 3 - watched him up close in the first half. Just because a right footed Bodin can play effectively on the left, why does GC assume Sercombe and others can. A lot of his losing the ball and missing tackles was because he was using his right foot instead of his left when it was impossible under pressure to do so effectively. Clarke 4 - very poor - need to give the captaincy to someone else
Nichols 2 - oh dear! Have been a fan but my patience has finally run out. Totally ineffective, but to be fair to him it was crazy to pick him in a windy long ball type of match against a team like Wycombe. Adeboyejo 5.5 - did quite well with no service in the first half. Unlucky not to score. Looks like he needs to be fitter. Could perhaps be the best partner for JCH long term
Subs:Hare 5.5 - did ok for first league match but a few mistakes Clarke-Harris 5 - looked rusty Bennett NOLE
Crowd 5 - smaller than expected but weather before the match not great Ref 5 Wycombe 5 - Think that they will struggle and the fact that we could not beat them at home is worrying

My own opinions from the game:
Jaakkola 6.5 Decent enough game
Little NOLE Davies 7.5 Dealt with most things with good positioning Craig 8 Led the back four well Leahy 6.5 Isolated at times but defended okay
Upson 6 Did an okay job sitting at the base of the diamond Ogogo 5.5 The odd bit of good play but not enough end product Sercombe 5 Good at times but completely anonymous at others Clarke 5 Decent first half but poor in the second
Nichols 4 Added nothing going forward except for the time Wycombe needlessly fouled him Adeboyejo 7 Created chances out of nothing and showed good intent whenever he picked up the ball
Subs:Hare 7 Defended solidly and got forward well in the second half Clarke-Harris 6.5 Bennett NOLE
Crowd 4 Flat Ref 6 Inconsistent in the first half, better in the second Wycombe 6.5 Actually played some neat football when they got it in the final third. Horrible team otherwise

Jaakkola 6 bit shakey to begin with, but improved as game went on.
Little NOLE Davies 7 good replacement for Lockyer Craig 6 little nonsense, bit slow. Leahy 6.5 wasn't as bad at the back as suggested by Walsall fans, could of done a little better getting forward.
Upson 5 way too slow. needs to be in CDM position not CM. Ogogo 5.5 good tackles, needs to be in CDM position not CM. Sercombe 5 couple of glimpses, but over run in the middle. Clarke 5 not one of his better days.
Nichols 4 didn't add anything to the game, easily bullied off the ball. Adeboyejo 6 battled well, but wasn't going to achieve much on his own.
Subs:Hare 7 good performance, perhaps not as willing to get forward as Little might of been, but did well. Clarke-Harris 6 didn't look 100% as expected, but still did more in the short time he was on than a lot of the players managed in a full 90 minutes. Bennett 4 one or two glimpses, but went missing.
Crowd 4 very quiet. Ref 5 Whistle happy. Wycombe 5 not as bad as they usually are, but still falling about whenever the opportunity arose.
Best bit was the use of the new TV especially enjoyed the goals montage (before it was repeated) and the away shirt announcement. Still waiting to see if it will show goal replays!

Jackkola, look nervous early doors, didn't have a great loot to do. 6
Little, nole. Davies, solid game mom7 Craig, steady 6.5 Leahy,ok going forward, but gives me the fear defensively 5.5
Upson, not one of his better games and slow. 5.5 Ogogo, as above 5.5 Clarke, poor game by his standards. 5.5 Sercombe, same as last week, wtf has happened to him. 4
Nichols, what's the point,2 Adeboyejo, tried but still very raw. 5
Subs Hare 5 Clarke-Harris, not up to speed and if we continue to play like that he'll be lucky to get more than half a dozen goals this season! Bennett, 3.5
Crowd, quiet, 4 GC, he needs to be more offensive especially at home. He won't be given long to turn things around. 2 Wycombe, got what the came for, 4

Some interesting stats. IMO Craig is unlikely to win many MOTM because of the nature of his role etc. So 14 in 69 as runner up is impressive. As for the rating being higher than the previous Saturday, I was at both games and probably thought the week before was better. Allowing that we played quite well before the pen and Blackpool were a better side themselves. I wonder why there was so many more ratings for the Wycombe game than before?!
