I thought a more balanced starting lineup for home matches, I really like the two centre back pairing and a more forward playing Ollie.
Jaakkola 6.5 one punch that chelt should have scored by.
Hare 7.5 got forward quick. Solid.
Davies 8 not much got past him, almost got put clean through.
Kilgour 8 again, solid performance got head on everything. Good stature.
Leahy 7.5 few decent tackles.
Ogogo 7.5 decent.
Clarke 7.5 involved.
Sercombe 6.5 just off, but some nice passes.
Bennett 7.5 lively and flitted with inside forward role.
Smith 8 m o m 2 goals and an unselfish ass.
Clarke-Harris 7 rusty but good to see back.
Subs: Adeboyejo 7 good at making those runs.
Nichols 7 ok touches but never a striker.
Rodman 6 still very unconvinced and disappointed.
Crowd 5 below average. Quiet.
Ref 8 very good.
Cheltenham 6 tried hard, physical, they'll be ok in league 2...

Jaakkola. 7. Needlessly punched when would have been easier to catch. Otherwise, nothing to do.
Hare. 8. Promising.
Davies. 8. Hardly tested against a very poor side.
Kilgour. 8. Ditton Davies.
Leahy. 8. Decent again.
Clarke. 7. Not quite at his best yet but he'll be fine.
Ogogo. 8. Excellent second half.
Sercombe. 8. Second half was much more like the old Sercombe we've missed so much.
Bennett. 9. MoM despite playing in the wrong position IMO. Get him wide...he's a winger and gets more space there. Played well tonight.
JCH. 7. Still rusty but that's understandable.
Smith. 8.5. Lively and two good finishes.

Jaakkola 7 He is looking more confident and apart from one dodgy punch he was fine, Hare 7.5 bags of energy. one slip and a deliberate foul cost a booking , other than that slotted in well. Davies 8.5 what a find! a centre half that dominates the aerial threat. barely put a foot wrong. Kilgour 8.5 Alfie is ready !!, confident,strong and heads the ball miles,he's a first team regular for the near future. Leahy 7 a good game,showed lots of quality. Ogogo 7.5 very underrated, does all the ugly stuff, we are better with him in the team. Clarke 7 an improvement on Saturday. Sercombe 7 also much improved Bennett 8 sparkled especially in the first half, we should look to keep him as we have no other player that can produce the magic. Smith 9.MoM 2 goals, an assist and a third goal disallowed, he looks the real deal. Clarke-Harris 7 still understandably rusty but was always a threat and good that he got off the mark late on. Him and Tyler looked good together. Subs: Adeboyejo 7 Lively ,he will get goals. Nichols 6.5 looked decent playing wide, maybe thats the way forward. Rodman N.o.l.e. Crowd disappointing in numbers but those who went had their monies worth. Ref 7 sensible,let the game flow. Cheltenham 6 an ok league two side , they should be mid table come next May. |

My own opinions from the game:
Jaakkola 6 Not much to do, flapped at one cross but then a good save from the resulting shot
Hare 7 Comfortable defensively and got forward well with little support in front of him
Davies 8 Untroubled but brought the ball out well
Kilgour 8.5 Dominated the defence and played some good balls out from the back, one which led directly to the opener
Leahy 6.5 Solid without being that involved in the game
Ogogo 6 Bit too backwards and sidewards in possession in the first half, more positive once we were 2-0 up
Clarke 7 Constantly trying to raise the tempo and create openings. Not everything came off but was rewarded with the assist for the second goal.
Sercombe 6.5 In and out of the game, but good touches at times
Bennett 7 Constantly nipping around the Cheltenham midfield
Smith 8.5 Wasn't too involved in any build-up play, but sat on the shoulder of the last defender and took both of his chances when they came to him. The antithesis of Nichols. Also an unselfish assist.
Clarke-Harris 6.5 Clearly not fully match-sharp but didn't shirk any battles.

Will defo agree with the Ref's high score. He kept the game going and was scrupulously fair, though he may have booked one of theirs towards the end.
Cheltenham v. Poor though I did admire their short black striker who looked like he was about 45.
Ollie Clarke was my favourite player of the night, didnt know he was so skillful.
Complete change from Oxford away when I last saw Rovers. Playing on ground or long passes to the wing, nothing direct; do Rovers do set pieces any more?
Still a win is a win is a win!

I think quite a few need to take off the tinted glasses here.
Don't get me wrong it's great to get a win, score goals and keep a clean sheet but they were poor. Having seen their result at the weekend I thought it would be anything as easy as it was. Apart from the first 15mins they were poor. They looked a young team and checking back they had quite a number of changes from their Saturday starting team. My rating are based on all this.
