GC said this week that young players will get their chance in the team.
Upson injures, we stick Rodman in the midfield - that’s fine, he scored a goal and was physical enough. Then came the Bennett substitution when we were already being carved open thorough the midfield. It begs the question, if Cam Hargreaves can’t get on in his natural position ahead of a lightweight winger with no physical presence, then we may as well release him and the rest of the U23s.

Haven’t seen very much of Hargreaves - what sort of player is he? If he’s a holding midfielder rather than an attacking/creative player then there was no point in putting him on in yesterday’s game. That said I think GC got his subs wrong yesterday, I thought that at the time and not with hindsight.

On a slightly different not. Even though the result was of course disappointing, would just like to add if I had to I would prefer to drop points against a team like Stanley who battled from minute 1 took the game to Rovers and never gave up even when they went down to 10 men, than I would to a team like Wycombe who time waste literally from kick off

I think I prefer time wasting to cheating.

I agree it was a poorish performance yesterday. I also agree that the problem is tactics. I'll come to how we cope with 10 (or 9) men later. But I want to compare yesterdays performance with last weeks. Lat week we were outplayed for the first 20 minutes because we didn't press, then we pressed and dominated! This week we pressed for the first 15 minutes, which we dominated, and then fell back, even when they went down to 10 men. Even in junior football any sensible coach know what you do when you play 10 men, you introduce more width, press and move the ball quickly, to get the opposition out of shape. Why can't GC see that? He did do well for us at the end of last year by making us tighter and more difficult to beat. Generally, the defence has played fairly well this year as well, but we are limited in midfield. It make no sense to play 3 players who are essentially defensive. Upson has been good, and was missed yesterday, but we can only afford one of Ogogo and Clarke (I'd have the former). Surely, we need to experiment with one of the youngsters, who others will know more about than I do. JCH will clearly go in the next window (he is well above this standard and a team player), so the crucial thing will be how we spend some (?) of that money. Onwards and upwards.

Going against the grain as I immediately thought penalty from behind the goal in the thatchers! Give the ref a break! Me two.I wasnt angry with him, but the tackle.Who was it again as I cant recall? Agree I was in the thatchers and it was a penalty Was really hoping 23 f**ked it up though to wipe his glee off his face

Credit where credits though AS played well and GC would do well to model us on their performance especially in midfield and up front as I thought they defended as badly as we did. Know some will hate me saying but we missed Upson. I also agree Bennett other than hitting the bar and TS did not effect the game in anyway when they came on and to a degree effectively put us down to 9 men in some ways as we couldn’t impact on the final third in any offensive way to give the defence/ midfield any respite
