Well, it all fires up this weekend. I reckon this is the most open one ever. NZ are not the unbeatable team of yesteryear. Australia and South Africa have shown real improvement over the last year. You cannot rule out England, as long as they don't have their usual brainfart in a knockout game. Ireland peaked one year too early. Wales and France just don't have any strength in depth and this will hold them back. Argentina will be Argentina. Tough to beat but once again lacking strength in depth. It might be interesting to see Russia in action as I'd imagine they'll have some real meaty blokes playing.....well, until they get banned for taking drugs.

It will be very open yes. I think NZ will be favourites but anyone from them, Australia, S.Africa, England and Wales could win it.
I agree that Ireland look to have peaked too soon but you can never rule them out.
Wales may not have the depth but they have done very well in the past with some of their best players missing. Their problem is they haven't beaten the southern hemisphere teams enough. I think I would rather play Australia than Wales in a knock out match though.
It also depends what type of England show up. The one that beat Ireland in the six nations this year of the one that lost to Wales?
England also have a few irreplaceable players so will need to hope not too many players pick up injuries.

The southern hemisphere teams are just far too strong imo and will be ready for this,especially New Zealand who's pool match with South Africa is crucial, as the winner will have an easier route through to the knock out stages.
England or wales have the best chance of getting to the semi's i think but it's all about handling the pressure in the big games.

You are right about handling the pressure, and I think this is where England will come undone. When things are going to plan, England can be fantastic. However it has been obvious for a long time that when the plan isn't working, England don't seem to have the nous to change it on the pitch. I don't know if this because of a lack of leadership on the pitch, or a failure with the coaches, but England do have problems adapting. |

I see tomorrow’s game between the All Blacks and SA as a dress rehearsal for the final. It’s usually a formality for all the big guns to make it to the quarters, then only 2 good games and your at the big dance. So it’s possible for a Northern Hemisphere team to take it out.
England or the AB’s and I’m grinning.

Well, the rugger so far has been a bit boring. Georgia did well today against Australia but they need more games against top-flight teams to develop further. Is it time for a relegation spot in the Six Nations, because let's be honest, Italy are just cannon fodder. Is it time to promote countries like Georgia or Russia to give them more experience against the top teams?

Could you imagine the abuse the “arrogant English” would have received from the other home nations if we’d try to use lawyers rather than tries to get through to the next stage? |

As good as England were, They still have no chance next week. The Country will end up supporting Japan. Well if they win tomorrow that is. Which i think they will. Their support will get them through.
