An IG story only lasts 24 hours and then deletes itself. Its just ran out of time. I would say people are reading far too much into things right now. Maybe he was talking about his agent! Or just his partner etc who's let him down? I'd be disappointed if he joined Huddersfield as, just like EH, he could well be back in Div 1 next season if he joined them.

It’s being reported that Preston Bell End & Huddersfield are after JCH now. f**k off Bellenders you have already had Billy Bob for peanuts! I'll take Bodin and Stockley plus 2 million for JCH.

Interesting article in the post regarding this:
“Bristol Rovers will sit down with Jonson Clarke-Harris' representatives later this week with both parties optimistic that an agreement can be reached to make the striker the club's highest-paid player.
Club president Wael Al Qadi has returned to Jordan after a two-week visit to the UK, in which he took in four Rovers games, and wants to reward the 25-year-old's performances for the blue and white quarters with a new deal.
Clarke-Harris still has two years remaining on his contract at the Mem, after signing from Coventry City in January, and has scored 19 goals in 29 games but his salary doesn't match his status in the squad.
Furthermore, Bristol Live understands Middlesbrough have joined the clutch of Championship clubs monitoring his progress and future at the Mem ahead of the January transfer window.
Al Qadi and other key decision-makers at Rovers believe Clarke-Harris is deserving of a new deal but there is at least one figure within the club hierarchy concerned of the financial impact and unsure whether or not it is necessary.
Rovers' wage bill is among the 10 highest in League One, with much of Graham Coughlan's transfer activity this summer hamstrung by the relative financial excesses of recruitment throughout 2018.
Rovers' business towards the end of the summer was governed by a need to alleviate the wage bill before making further additions but that proved unsuccessful and, as a result, no first-team player was signed after July 26 - almost six weeks before the window closed.
Giving Clarke-Harris a pay rise would further swell the amount of money spent on salaries which has to be a concern for a club who, as per their accounts for 2018/19, were losing £65,000 a week.
However, there is a wider acceptance that the volume of Championship clubs that are scouting one of English football's most prolific strikers, will likely lead to concrete interest in January and potentially turn the player's head.
Middlesbrough are the latest second-tier side to have declared an interest in Clarke-Harris, alongside Reading and Preston North End, and have watched the 25-year-old at least once this season.
As Bristol Live previously reported, Hull City made tentative enquiries over the summer but were only willing to pay £450,000 - which falls well short of Rovers valuation, and nothing has changed regarding the Tigers' financial capabilities so they are effectively out of contention.
Middlesbrough's head of recruitment Gary Gill has kept a close eye on Clarke-Harris following his outstanding end to the 2018/19 season and his strong start to this campaign has only heighted interest.
Clarke-Harris has seven League One goals in 10 appearances - averaging one every 109 minutes - and is a striker adept at operating on his own in attack, or in a partnership, plus there is a feeling that he is yet to hit his ceiling as a footballer due to a sporadic, injury-hit and nomadic career before the last nine months.
Jonathan Woodgate is trying to move Boro on from the Tony Pulis-era with a focus on youth and wants to supplement that with his own batch of signings and finding a new striker has become paramount with the Teeside club scoring just nine goals in nine Championship games.
Reports last week claiming Huddersfield are an interested party are based predominantly on Danny Cowley's appreciation of Clarke-Harris when he was Lincoln manager in League One and it's unclear that the Terriers even need or want a new striker.
Giving Clarke-Harris a new contract won't necessarily prevent any of the aforementioned clubs, or even a new suitor, making an approach for the 25-year-old but it will safeguard Rovers financially”

Id prefer to ask Wael as he should be the one overseeing finances/transfer activity to make sure we are both competitive and not spending beyond our means.
A manager can ask for more money, and what manager wouldn't at our level? but if debts increase the buck stops at the top.

Not sure anybody has said DC overspent just that we're now still stuck with the players he signed such as Bennett, Nichols & Mensah, plus THD & Matthews following their ops, doing little really to justify their seemingly high wages. You can see all 5 of them being released next summer.

Everyone seemed to be loving Bennett after he signed? - I don't think anyone was complaining about his wages then....

How can you compare when GC came in to when DC did? Ward was only replaced by DC In March and GC had from December.

No matter what the thread, someone always wants to drag the conversation around to having a swipe at DC. He had a fantastic 3 & a half seasons with us, yes he made some mistakes as everyone does, but that was far outweighed by his successes. He has not been here for over 9 months, it’s GC’s team now. I wouldn’t give much credence to what’s posted by the Bristol Sport Post.

The fact no contract is signed nearly a month after this article is not a good sign..
