I never said they were my hero’s, I’m purely stating a fact that a lot of people view Tommy as a hero. A lot of racists do. Look, free speech in this country has never been under threat. At all. What has been under scrutiny is hate speech. Dont confuse the two. These people are pushing for the ability to use hate speech under the guise of defending free speech. Depends what is meant by hate speech. If someone perfectly rationally and sensibly questions immigration policy for example there will be plenty of people shouting them down as racists and accusations of hate speech/hate crime. |

Almost as entertaining to hear people like you support Muslim rape gangs, I assume you do ? or are you ignoring the evidence on that one ? almost like it was nothing to do with that and more the fact he was told to not report on the case and did so anyway. The law is the law if you are told not to do something then do so not really sure what you expect to happen ? |

This has been done to death on here over the last couple of years, it was a thread about apparent accusations of the support of yeovil, then it turned into BCFC supporters, and now we are back to having a debate about Tommy Robinson.... Again, and again, and again.... I actually took the time to look at otib and look at the debate over there, and it's exactly the same arguments there as here. I bet near enough every football forum has the same argument.... I actually just don't think it achieves much on the main board, and if folk want to continue then they can feel free to engage in general.... That's all.... So I'll let it run for a couple more hours so people know why its disappeared.... |

Nothing to do with left or right (politically), but gregsgas is right move this into general chat. I am sure that every club has racists despite the protestations of the other lot on OTIB today. Fortunately they are a very small minority in every club, but they are there. Unfortunately there is also a larger minority who will try to deflect, deny, justify it as “banter” or just laugh it off. Little discussion will come out of this, just very set views which won’t change and will only get more entrenched.
Have always thought there is a fine line between giving abuse to players and crossing the line into abusing because of a players race. It’s not the same but it’s a fine line.
Racism is racism and I suggest we all recognise it when we hear it. Good luck to Yeovil Town and BCFC in locating who they were and acting in a decisive manner to get rid of them from Saturday afternoons.
Interestingly, according to OTIB Jon Lansdown when told about the racist chants told those who told him to contact the SLO (Supporters Liaison Officer?). One of their posters made a very good point that he would have thought it would be better dealt with by a senior executive in the club, eg Jon Lansdown, instead of passing it down the line. I wonder if Lansdown will change his stance now the BBC has picked it up and it makes the front page of their football pages. Not good for any club.

Wow! A football match is abandoned in this country, I think for the first time ever, because a player was allegedly racially abused. I would say that is a sysmic event however it is measured. Yet a thread on this momentous occourance has only reached 2 pages after more than 12 hours. And there are now snowflakes comparing racism, you know, abuse directed at a person because of their ethnicity, at them in person whilst they're playing football, with someone castigating a player for being useless at the thing he's paid handsomely for, on a forum. Some perspective required I think. But one as no real connection to Gasheads and is totally beyond our control, the other is related to a Rovers player who will no doubt be part of the squad this week who, if picked, by the boss will need our support. This begs the question as to why the on-line comments about that useless waste of space is then linked to a different thread about racism? You can't have it both ways, and if someone wants to use an entirely different thread to take cheap shots then I have an absolute right of reply. also, I consider trying to link a comment about a useless player to something as shameful as racial abuse, to try and score cheap points is an absolute disgrace, and that poster should apologise to anyone who has been racially abused for trivialising their experience. I entirely accept your point about backing the manager and his team. Sadly, I think Nicholls will start, but I will give him my full support, as I always have, until the end of the match. If he plays well I will congratulate him. If he's crap, and does something as useless as that awful penalty, I will moan like hell afterwards. If that's still allowed. |

Yeah, he was told not to report on it as they were trying to hush it all up.Having been forced to investigate when they'd rather sweep it under the carpet, the last thing they wanted was to have it all publicised too much. The Liberal Left have a cold grip on this country. We should all be very concerned. |
