Well I cannot see why we don't play Rodman up front. He can head the ball and has a good shot and he can beat players, he's not a great tackler so why not?

Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing that either, can’t have a worse output than our current strikers have at the moment. It’s a credit to the versatility of Rodman that he’s been able to slot in at RWB, a position he’s never played in before and people are calling for him to play up front.
The only problem with it would be the question of who replaces him at RWB, I don’t think Little is fit again is he?

Think both loanees will start with Tom and Deon on the bench.Rodders up front good suggestion with Bennett late sub.

Perhaps it is a good idea but it just makes me think about McGhee and the changes he made at York in Dec ‘12 with players wildly out of normal positions. His formation that day still gives me shudders. A long drive and a crap performance. But Rodman is good in the air, a bit like Monkhouse, and he could do well. After Tuesday night we might not have much to lose, but I’d play Smith and Adeboyejo but keep the ball on the ground and not just lump it in front. UTG!

Can’t renember Bennet ever coming on as sub and scoring or creatinga goal , in fact whenever I’ve seen him come on when we’ve needed a goal he just slows things up and let’s them regroup.

Smith is very lightweight sadly just like Nichols. Also seems to tire quickly.

Moore and Victor would work with the way we play for me. Smith to come on if pushing for a goal to add to them not replace.

Adeboyejo and Smith for me.
Deon Moore as sub.
And no Nichols or Bennett please.
Don't necessarily object to trying Rodman, but Little was very poor last time I saw him and cost us two points.

If rodman plays as a striker he would be the target man with his back to goal mostly. Maybe he can do that well but he hasnt done it for a long time. Another interesting alternative would be to play the ball on the deck and play some football. Maybe even pass and move and make forward runs from midfield?

I considered him but he’s 18, in his first year of professional football having not got many minutes of senior football under his belt. I’m sure he is an excellent prospect but as of now I wouldn’t risk it.

How many times have you seen Moore play to say he'll work against Pompey's defenders? Plus who's Smith going to replace when I assume we'll then go 3 upfront? less than ten times but what I have seen is that he is able to occupy the defenders around him and grab the odd goal - I think between him and victor the ball might actually stick up top and I feel they are best equipped for our “crosses” - re Smith, Id sacrifice a cdm and ask the cbs to cover the loss between them.

Smith is very lightweight sadly just like Nichols. Also seems to tire quickly. Smith looks a goalscorer to me, movements good , pace is good, he’s stronger than Nichols , constantly looking for the through ball playing off the shoulder of the biggest slowest centre forward he can find , which is a ball we don’t play because we mostly lump it up in the air down the middle but the few times we’ve played him through on the deck he’s scored. I was at the league cup Cheltenham game, he scored two , set the other up and could have scored four . He’s also played well in some home league games and scored. We played it on the deck that night and he and JCH combined brilliantly. Going back to the thread my choice up front is Nichols in midfield with ogogo and upson behind him and the other two up front.. Smith is a poacher , Nichols can create , not sure about what kind of forward victor is yet other than hard working but in a 3-5-2 with Nichols behind those two I feel there’s goals there. Stick with three defensive midfielders 10 yards in front of 3 center backs for much longer without Harris and we’ll be in a relegation scrap by Christmas.
