What would happen if a million Brits who make a lifestyle choice to live on benefits threatened to leave? Would be a nice boost to the economy and allow more low paid, hard working workers to pay less tax. Wishful thinking unfortunately. I can only speak of my experience of living on the dole- I was obviously doing it wrong as I had to live on £2 a day. I’d love to know how these mythical beasts buying Xbox games and TVs manage it! The undecided voters felt overwhelmingly that Corbyn got the better of the previous TV debate. |

The City contributes something like 75 billion per year in tax. An FTT will kill the Goose that lays the Golden Egg. Not according to Bloomberg. But what do they know? Oldie, you are letting your political views cloud reality. You know damn well what effect an FTT would have on the City. You also know damn well that once Socialist politicians take a cut of something they will only want more.....and more. An FTT is a disaster and you know that as well.....or do you? You say you had 25 rip roaring years in the City, but you were not involved in Trading were you. You didn't understand Short or Long positions a few weeks ago when we spoke about it. Do you have any understanding as to how a modern electronic Stock Exchange works? Your Bloomberg link dismissed High Frequency Trading (HFT). Are you aware of how much activity on every large Stock Exchange involves HFT? |
