I didn’t go to the game yesterday but is anyone else concerned that we got dominated? All impartial news reports seems like we were lucky to get a win. Is this grinding results out sustainable? No, but given our injuries to key players what do you expect ?

I think it’s absolutely sustainable when you have a back five as solid as ours. We rarely keep the ball more than our opponents and are focused more on shape and being well drilled, this team seem to thrive on their defensive work and I think as long as we have that we will be absolutely fine, we have enough up top to win us games and keep us competitive and with January around the corner, maybe a winger through the door can boost the ranks ! Stay positive, we are good to do great this season !

Anybody who watched the match will know we were lucky to win, after all we went 2-0 up though an own goal then just sat back and let a poor Rochdale side pepper our goal for 80 mins. GC's built a resilience to our side but we really need to be better going forward if we we're going to become genuine top 6 contenders, hopefully JCH's return will bring that to the side.

When a side gain extra league points for possession, shots on goal count & being unlucky to have lost, then I’ll worry about it. Rochdale 1 2 Rovers, three points in the bag is all that matters. We may well play outstanding in the next league outing and come away empty handed. That’s football.

...and last year's encumbrance is continuing his form. Walsall on 15 points as of today.
There's always a right and wrong time in football, I'll always remember fondly how DC brought the fans and club together and took to our hearts.
GC may not yet hold that mantle as his style and approach is different, but the form we've acquired is taking most by surprise and he's got most players over performing..
It's not quite a year but the o p makes a salient point.

Is anyone else of the opinion League One is a bit, well, sh** this season? *Looks at top of table* Er, yeah. What's been a surprise is Pompey's and to a certain extent Sunderland's struggle. We look stronger than last season but without blowing any team away. Many teams are much of a muchness by the look of it so maybe a couple of surprise packages might make the top 6 in May, like Wycombe, Fleetwood and er ........ Rovers ! We still have many of the top 8 to play (JCH and THD badly needed by then, me thinks) in Fleetwood, Posh, Ipswich and Sunderland. Will also be interesting to see if Bolton do the unbelievable and get out of the bottom 3,

Bolton may well get out of the bottom three. Their focus is on finding a very creative accountant, don't pay their bills (especially to HMRC, which is us!) and acquire some good players by miracle in the January window.
They should have been treated the same as Bury.

Will also be interesting to see if Bolton do the unbelievable and get out of the bottom 3, I agree Marc. The league is as tight from 3-11 as it was from 15-24th last year. You can’t look at any team and discount them from a promotion/play off push. Everyone is beating each other. We all were embarrassed at losing to Bolton but they did Fleetwood yesterday. Burton have a fantastic away record and beat Donny, who routed us just a few weeks ago. And look at Oxford, they were 18th 10 games ago but only just scraped a draw at Pompey. You can’t predict anything. Where Wycombe may struggle is where Shrewsbury did a few years ago and not really being able to strengthen in January where teams like Sunderland, Ipswich and Pompey have the ability to do so.

With only three teams being relegated this season I’m guessing that 48 points should be enough. So we need another 23 points from 32 games. If we don’t get it then I suggest that Coughlan will be out of a job, probably before the end of the season. Which, reading the curmudgeonly comments on here, will please more than a few posters. I prefer to dwell on the fact we are 1 point from the play off positions as well as 12 points clear of relegation. I would have taken that one year ago.

Since DC left we are played 41, 62 points won. That translates to 69/70 points over a 46 game season which would have seen us 8th last season.
Not bad seeing as that includes his first game (Sunderland away) and over 50% of it was a relegation scrap with a previous managers players...

We did go 1 up with a great goal first, and then we defended our lead till the final whistle. We brought back 3 points. That's all that matters.

And we’ve actually done alright without our best player / striker lately and I reckon our form since he got injured is mid table ? happy with that. Hopefully only a couple more games without JCH and then we’ll go back to winning more than we lose which would probably / hopefully put us in to the top six by the time the window opens. Then it’s make or break. Keep him and there’s a very good chance we can make the play offs, cash in and we’ll probably fall away and finish around mid table, but the owners would have recouped some of the money they’ve spent against our assets. I think it’ll be the latter but it would be great if we could keep him and get a play off place. Just watch the fans come flooding back for a play off game at the Mem under the floodlights v Sunderland for example. Lots of ifs and buts there, interesting times.

Most of the sides above us in the table played Bolton when they were putting out a side full of kids. So in reality we’re doing a little better than table looks.

And once thing to mention about GC He’s looking long and hard at the academy something I know DC never did There’s some nuggets in there and he will spot them , give them a chance and the rest is up to them Expect to see some minutes for the young u18 striker Phillips v Bromley Weird thing to lie about.
