I don't give a sh** about the performance. We got the right result. GC said we went there with a game plan, and by hook or by crook we got the result. Job done as far as I'm concerned because any one-off against a top Conference team, on a plastic pitch, ain't gonna be a walk in the park. We've made money and we have a home game against Plymouth, a decent, well supported team. Let's hope we fill The Mem and get a result. UTG ! What was the plan I wonder, sneek a goal in the first few minutes and then defend for our lives for the next 90 mins and just hope the luck goes our way? Well we’ve had almost a year of it. Maybe it’s luck or maybe he knows how to build a side that can make it work?

Who cares? we avoided defeat and a TV humiliation. The fact we didn't light up the game, unlike their fans and their "pitch", all that will be remembered is that we progressed to the next round. We would have lost that in the DC era, with supposedly better players like Snake, Bodin and Ellis in our ranks. GC may not play pretty football, but it's effective.

Not the first time ive said this about Nichols but he looks like a mascot who forgot to leave the pitch. Bullied, lightweight and always makes the wrong decisions. Sadly our striking options are so limited Nichols keeps getting selected. He isn't good enough by far and Jan can't come soon enough.Saw some City player on Midland's TV on loan at Coventry. What a goal he scored!! So good they played it twice. We MUST get some striking options in ASAP. How many clear cut chances did he get ? How many clear cut chances did JCH get ? The problems is NOT our striking force its the pile of sh** behind them, sort that out and both our strikers will score

JCH had one real chance and scored. I can understand lack of goals in the style we've played the last 12 months. What's the excuse before that?

Technically JCH's goal was an old goal as the defender deflected it on the way into the goal.......... Did Nichols have any clear cut chances he missed last night ?

No he didn't. As I said it's been 3 years. Not however minutes he got last night. If Nichols had scored that goal last night you would have credited it to him and I wouldn't begrudge that

It’s so obvious to me that’s what we’re lacking . Hopefully GCs coaches and assistants see it too and are having a word in his ear if there is any money to spend in January.

Am I imagining it or was GC keen on signing Jack Payne in the summer before he went to Lincoln. That could be adding 2 and 2 and making 5 though. If it's true then it at least shows that GC would be keen to bring a creative type of midfielder into the club.

GC is doing a great job with what he has. I said it in the summer and I’ll say it again, GC and is has fans will have to suck up this season, it’s a rebuilding year and there are still players here that DC sign which quite frankly are terrible, that no one else wants on high wages taking up our budget. Once GC can move those on and sign some quality back into the side we may see a different style of football coming through.
It’s not pretty, but we are getting results and to come through last night on a plastic pitch to round 2 with some money in the bank which we haven’t achieved for 4 years will do for me.

But will JCH still be here when the likes of Bennett & Nichols have gone? Let's face up to it w/o his goals we'd probably be relegation candidates in most normal seasons. Plus is GC actually capable of signing a creative player as he hasn't managed to sign one so far. Let's hope the money we've earned, as a result of getting to R2, which most be approaching £100K?, goes to GC in January and not just to pay down the club debts.

I care, sat at work, and a couple of people saying how dreadful we are, I don't need to be told. This is now the standard of our football. Appalling negative and bordering on embarrassing, the result saves the final part, but by the skin of its teeth, but we were outplayed by a non-league team, listen to the managers comments, I cant believe what I hear and read - they are non-league. I am getting close to throwing in the towel, I hold a ST and have been a fan 47 years, I'm nearly done watching this managers football.

Come on TN was crap again, his all round game was crap. He had a couple of times facing the defenders closing in on the box, he hasn't a clue, and to be fair to him I will add, any longer.

Good question, but all we can do is hope regarding JCH staying. I think GC is capable of signing a creative midfielder, he just hasn't had the chance so much yet. We have a lot of midfielders in the squad and the priority positions was a 20 goal striker, defender, GK and battling CDM - we've had all of those. Not sure we'll have any money in January, hopefully we can move Bennett on loan at least and he'll be gone by summer meaning we could get a good winger in, GC's judgement and signings so far have been pretty good. I don't think any of his permanent signings so far have been a failure or not good enough.

Exactly this - hopefully Bennett, Nichols, Mensah, Reilly and Matthews will all be gone by next season. This mediocre lot are probably costing the club the best part of £500k a year in wages alone - plus their cost of employment - pension and NI's. That equates to two good players at this level on £5k a week. GC's hands are tied I'm sure until these are offloaded permanently. Next season will be the true judge of a GC team.

In the summer GC had to rebuild our defensive half with most players leaving during this period. We didn’t have many midfielders or strikers move on so there wasn’t much potential.
Come January with another cup win we might generate enough cash to pay off Bennett and / or Nichols. This would give us scope to do some wheeling and dealing JCH style.
Let’s see.

By then we will be getting crowds of 5000 but then can all come back and watch football.
