The first two games I remember vividly is a 3-2 opening day home win against Luton, I believe it was Gerry Francis at the helm. Also, the 3-0 win at Derby in the Fa Cup. Both around the 2000/2001 Mark I think without looking it up. I can remember being at a night game at Twerton when I was a nipper, not for the football, but because I wet myself. Scarred for life. The Derby game was 3 - 1, I remember it very well because I had a tenner on it @ 100 - 1. He he. Ravenelli with the consolation goal, iirc … Ellington hattrick Great away day.. memorable Chicken Balti Pie

My first match was a evening match when my dad took me to Eastville in the mid 60s, I can remember standing in the south enclosure ,but the only thing I can remember about the match was that Rovers were playing a friendly against a overseas touring side. Does anyone know who the opposition may have been that evening or is my memory playing tricks on me? I went to an evening match which was a friendly but in the late 70s. It was against Zambia and Rovers won 4-1. Might be wrong but think Paul Randall scored a hat-trick.

7th April 1962. Rovers 2-1 Newcastle. We got relegated that season but I was hooked. My dad was a bus conductor, working out of the old Eastville bus depot. So if he had a football special it was for a Rovers game. I can remember being overawed by the rosettes and general atmosphere. The next game I can actually remember seeing Rovers was on St George's Day 1963. It was at the pit and proved to be goalkeeper Esmond Million's and goal scorer on the night, Keith Williams' last game before they were banned for life for being involved in the big bribery scandal of the time. Rovers lost 1-4 But due to my dad being a bus conductor, he had a seat on a bench on the pitch surround for the game, so I was up jumping on the pitch when Rovers scored The official bans were not announced until July of 1963 but Rovers did the honourable thing and suspended the two players ahead of their sentences. EDIT: Rovers 2 goals were scored by 'aaaarrooolddd. He has since informed me that both were headers. Those old enough to remember him playing will know why he would remember such a thing

1982, looking at most others I feel so young. 😀 *There is a serious point though, we need to bring through younger fans but that is probably for another thread. You'm only a babby, Stu

Alfie best header of ball ever, Arold best Rovers player with ball at his feet but headers ,nah!!!

F**k it! You are clearly a bot, but hey, a bot that incites actual interesting discussion is alright with me! The very first game I remember was around 1993... It was a home game against the Posh and whilst I have absolutely no idea what the score was, I do recall two stand out things from that day; 1) The long and winding walk down various lanes through the houses on our way to Twerton Park. As a kid I remember vividly not really understanding why on earth we had to park 30 minutes away from the ground! Still have a very lucid memory of the dull bath stone terraces houses and the cold steel handrails that ran along the lanes through the houses that led to the ground.. 2) The Peterborough kit.. This kit has lived with me forever more due to just how unbelievably hideous it was! I mean it really was disgusting! It was a red kit (obviously their away strip) that was covered in tiny little designs of some sort.. I cannot remember what they actually were, but it really did make it look like someone had been sick all down the kit! Have never forgotten it. Edit incoming as I will now absolutely have to try and find a pic of this kit and try and pinpoint the exact fixture.. FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIV 2 Sa 17Dec 1994 Bristol R 3 - 1 Peterb orough W

I can remember many stand out games in the fifties but not my first, although I do remember Bert Hoyle (circa 1952) and throwing oranges towards him from the boys enclosure at the Muller Road end - used to think it was great fun.

Can't even remember who we were playing but we won 2-1 and Frankie Bennett scored the winner. Second match my brother took me again a couple months later and we won that too and Bennett scored again. Thought he was our greatest striker ever, learned few years later he didn't get many more than them 2 lol.

6th of April 1991, Plymouth Argyle at home. It ended 0-0 and I thought Paul Gascoigne played for Rovers.

17th April 1976 at Eastville against Southampton. Rovers won 2-0 both goals scored by Frankie Prince. Good job we won and I was hooked by the Tote End roar from that day because my second game was a 5-1 home drubbing by Wolves! Yes I can remember that Wolves game - we got pummelled as the score suggests - think it was xmas/new year game - remember also that we had to park way up Muller Road towards The Mem - when that happened you knew it was a big crowd. My first game was Feb 1973 - Gas 2 Bournemouth 0. The Wolves fans were in fine festive spirits.......they cheered when we scored
