Merry Christmas Gasheads! In this festive episode of GasCast, Max and Mets are joined by Gold Star Hero Ashley Belsten as they discuss the shocking news that Graham Coughlan is set to leave Bristol Rovers for League 2 Mansfield. With Rovers flying up at 4th, the boys try to make heads or tails of the decision, the reasoning behind it, and try to explore where the club goes from here. Mets is willing to give Coughlan a second chance if he changes his mind, whereas Ash is less than pleased by both the timing and the logic of the announcement, and can see no way back for the Irishman. They also discuss a fantastic win at Ipswich which lifts the team high into the playoffs and on the edge of automatics, the impressive performances at the heart of defence, in goal, and a rare goal for Tom Nichols. listen.gascastpodcast.co.uk/276671/2285651-coughlan-to-mansfield

Very good listen and glad I wasn’t the only one who had the head in hands feeling with Nichols up front
Be very interesting to see if the podcast gets the same negative posts About your views on TN which are blatantly correct,

Enjoyed that as usual, cheers guys.
One thing though, I've trawled through the interview quotes from the BP, and honestly I'm not being obtuse but I still can't find any complaints from him about the budget. It seems to be common knowledge but I've yet to see or hear any evidence that he's complained about his budget or facilities yesterday?
The quote I found was "I don't know where I can take this club" and "this club could be a Championship club, that's why it's frustrating". How does this equate to him moaning about the budget and suggesting this is why he's leaving?
He was asked a question by the journo, and he answered it. It seems to be that people are putting 2 and 2 together and making 5?

Not agreeing on your point that Holloway is a gas head through and through - can I remind you that Colin Murray not so long ago spoke to him about the then upcoming QPR gas game , Murray saying well Ollie , you are obviously rooting for the gas - to which Holloway replied - no ,QPR for me Colin ,, I was there in 1 form or another a long time - or words to that effect . Murray was shocked. Holloway bleeds green , orange blue .. whichever club it is in his interests to ‘ bleed , 🤥utg

Completely changed my mind on everything from yesterday
GC can water off. Blatantly wanted out and has given this bullshit to force the club to let him go after offers from Mansfield
I don't want Holloway. The media circus would be awful but his record as a manager isn't amazing. If he was that great why has no other club taken him on since Millwall?

Just saw the BBC news interview lads, not sure I agree with either of you, but that's not the point.... What struck me most about that interview was fanboy you are looking more like your dad now, just need to dye it ginger....

What is startling, is the amount of abuse WAQ & co are being dealt yet again, off of the back of what is essentially a decision being made by Mr & Mrs Coughlan. The boardroom contains no angels, I’d never claim otherwise. But this one is well & truly on the shoulders of GC. So bitterly disappointed how he has played this, after backing him every second since his first day at it, away to Sunderland.

I've been one of his harshest critics but I'd come round to him over the last 12 months. Completely agree he's played this terribly. Really got the fans on his back and ruined his legacy here. The owners for all their faults can't be accused of not putting thier hand in thier pocket. Shame that it seems that DC squandered most of it (Nichols, Bennett, Mensah, Matthews, etc) imagine what Graham and Tommy could do with the money that DC had been given

Let’s add Johnny Burn to that list for good measure. So much money thrown away with no return.

He's been gone a year and people are still scrutinising every player he signed.
Jeez.

So long as Bennett & Mensah are still on the payroll, it is wasted money that we could well be the difference between making JCH one of (if not thee) highest paid player at the club & therefore keeping him. Ludicrous fees for garbage players on very good wages, Darrell’s mistakes that we are still literally paying for.

So just how much are Bennett & Mensah on per/week?

They are earning professional footballer salaries, whatever the sum, it is money down the drain & a cost this club cannot afford. Bennett clearly has zero interest being here and hasn’t done for 15 months plus. Mensah has made 3 appearances in a full two years. That’s appearances, not starts. THREE.

We paid a fee reported at the time to be about £80k for Mensah, even if he’s on something low like £1k per week, he was given a 3 year deal, so that’s £150k in wages for three starts, plus his transfer fee. Board didn’t back Darrell though.
