Maybe JCH will be more inclined to sign a new deal if we can put a decent side around him this summer?

I dont think any of Rovers' top strikers who we had to sell went on to be any great shakes. I could be wrong.
Certainly JCH should consider he could be doing the same, going from Starman to journeyman.

Think JCH is more important than a good striker.
Imo- hes the best player we had since Lambert andddddd hes got that connection with crowd that gives us a bit more.
If JCH charges down the corner the flag, we get noisy and think things might happen.
I understand selling him. Butttt hes worth X (his league performances) + Y (his importance to us) - a (contract left)...
I think Y puts his value close to 2m

Any chance that it's a minimum release fee clause in his contract that's leaving it so low?

Marcus Stewart, Rickie Lambert, Gary Penrice, Bobby Zamora, Jason Roberts? Barry Hayles Gareth Taylor I am sure there could be more ? If only some of those players had stayed with us instead of moving on successfully to other clubs, the past 30 years could have been so much better. The success they could have bought to us could have brought a lot more money into the club as well

To be fair to the OP I think he was referring to players who forced a move rather than were poached. Can't think of any at the moment, Muzzy perhaps but he never really made it, and Hoskins was a complete flop.

As for keepers, I saw Nigel Martyn make his debut vs Hereford maybe Exeter. Three years later the first £1'000'000 pound keeper. Crystal Palace, Leeds Utd and Everton. Plus a few caps with England too 🏴

Apart from Cureton not sure we had to sell the other just that we had offers we couldn't afford to turn down. Although as the other posters suggests there's zero evidence JCH wants a move anyway, he posts enough photos of himself on Insta in a Rovers kit to suggest he's not that unhappy at the club.
