Gavin Reilly believes he will return to parent club Bristol Rovers a better player after spending the first half of the season on loan at Cheltenham Town.
The 26-year-old striker is confident he will be given a clean slate at the League One club, having fallen out of favour with previous boss Graham Coughlan.
Ben Garner was appointed manager at the Memorial Stadium just before Christmas, with Coughlan leaving to take over at Mansfield Town.
"I have been told with the new manager at Rovers, it's a clean slate," Reilly said.
"I hadn't heard anything from Cheltenham before the change happened at Rovers, but in the back of mind I was interested in going back there.
"Every player wants to play at highest level they can and I have six months on my contract, so I'll get my head down, try and work my way into the team and see what happens."

I really wish him well if he returns. However his form at Cheltenham in a lower division was hardly world beating. It wouldn't surprise me if he is loaned out somewhere else. Walsall maybe?

I don’t know the FA rules but was told no player can play for 3 different team in one season, so if we play him then we can’t let him go elsewhere. If he doesn’t play then he can go elsewhere.

Interesting KP - That would suggest that he might be considered through January ? [training]
Did he feature in the FA Cup for Cheltenham, I would presume so ?

Now he’s come back I would give him a go, especially with all the injuries we’ve got and our prolific strikers need a break. Let’s face it he can’t do any worse can he!

I would rather we worked on him than Adeboyejo, who for me has made no impression at all.

I guess that depends on what's available in the loan market and also how long Smith is going to be out if nothing else is available, although so much for BG's great contacts if Reilly is the best option! With Bennett featuring in BG's recent games it's like we've turned the clock back to the end of DC's era!

James could actually jump and head a ball Why do you have to bring Nichols into every thread, if he's as bad as you make out why do our last 3 managers all think he's worthy of a starting place? After our last two away performances he warrants a start far more than JCH on Sunday! In fact if JCH had put some effort into reaching the two decent crosses Nichols sent over to him then we could have scored twice in the first half yesterday.

4 goals in 20 games in the league below this season..... If GR is the answer then f**k knows what the question is! Between us and Cheltenham 8 goals in 50 games. Got to be given a chance . Surely ?

Deon Moore playing at Bath Sat for Billericay but don't think he's set the world alight sadly.

I wish Gavin the best and if he makes a solid impression then good for him. However, if freeing up his wages allows us to sign a better player then it's a no-brainer for me.
