I wonder what our 2 new signings are going to think when they step out in front of 800 Gasheads. WTF have I done, I suspect! 😳 Hopefully they'd be equally as insulted at having to participate in a tournament that's become a plaything for the PL clubs. Use it as a training exercise to get to know their new teammates ahead of the real matches 👍 I totally agree with you. I also think there's a good case to be made to scrap both EFL Trophy and EFL Cup. I never get excited about either.

Never underestimate your opponent, big mistake we have often made before in cup games. Fans underestimating opponents is fine and will have no bearing, I wouldn’t expect the players to have the same attitude though didn't quite go to plan against chesham, bath city etc, players thinking it's a piece of water, and hey presto were a laughing stock again.

WTF have I done, I suspect! 😳 Because they have not been able to break into 2 clubs at a higher level than ours virtually all the football they have played have been in front of much less than 800 people. Not their fault because their young but the truth.

Good opportunity to ease the new blood into the team and try out new systems. That's the only benefit to playing in this god forsaken trophy. At least they won't have 7-8000 moaning at them after 5 mins at the first bad touch or missed cross.

No we shouldnt, the FA should make it like the Trophy used to be like up until the prem kids sides entered and the League cup was people people only cared about the premiership and Champions league money. Nothing wrong with the cups themselfs, only how they are respected by the FA.

I’ll have to take your word for it that the players thought those games were a piece of water.

If BG is keen to change the formation then this is the perfect game for him to do it. I would be surprised if we see three CB's starting tonight.
I don't think there will be many changes but it would be good if one or two regulars can get a night off.

I was pointing out the our boycott of the competition isn't going to show the club in a very good light, now that these 2 have finally hit the big time! I agree that they've not played in front of larger crowds, but moving to us, they must be expecting to be playing in front of decent sized attendances on a regular basis. I'm almost tempted to go and see these 2 tonight, almost.

There might not be.many attending but there’s a nice £40000 prize money for the winners & a place in the quarter-finals. Plus, even if only 25 people attend, if they all buy just 1 sausage roll each that's almost another £40000 right there.

Not going tonight but fair shout to those that are. It's not political for me, I just can't be arsed.

And besides, the lure of Wembley starts becoming an incentive for the players at this point. I wonder how many people are (almost) tempted like you to go just to have a look at the new boys. That's the only reason I'd have to go.

Might get a bigger crowd than expected tonight as a result of the new boys and a win takes us 2 games from Wembley ??

I'm sure one of the other lads will fill them in.

It seems quite clear watching BG's preview of the game, that he is in favour of the bigger clubs having their youth teams in this competition. Perhaps not surprising considering his past history of coaching both Palace's and West Brom's youngsters. BG has confirmed Both our new youngsters will be involved, so I'll be watching on I follow with interest. Prediction - BG's first win. 'It's a good competition'. No Ben. It was a half decent competition before it became a cheapened, shambolic, joke of a tournament which has been hijacked by those who wanted out of the Football League three decades ago. Still, as long as you're Palace U18 kids get a chance to test themselves against the big boys...
