Reading the Mansfield forum and just come across this, oh I love the irony! Made me chuckle anyway Re: Are we progressing under Coughlan? Postby Amber Andy » Sun Jan 12, 2020 1:20 am My concern is that CG is trying to play a style (like the one he employed at Bristol Rovers), that the majority of our players can't adapt to. This is because they are unfit and after 35 minutes they are cream crackered. Is this the only way CG can play ? An experienced manager would play a style that suited the players until he had chance to move them on. Hopefully he can get at least two players in sharpish who are fit enough to cope with this style of play.

Fun fact - nothing in that song is ironic. What's ironic is her calling it irony.

Thats why GC taking that job was a huge risk career wise if it goes wrong. The players he inherited from DC were hard working fuckers ...Craig,O clarke, Nicols...etc..so he could play that style when he added his own signings.Mansfield are the Man city money wise of L2 so egos are surely to be there and they might not have the work rate or honestly of the players he had here. There is a reason why they are 18th. Things go badly and his League career as a manager could be over in May.

I wonder if is Mrs would let him return to Bristol, as I doubt the Mansfield owner will stand in his way. 🤔

Not at all but did he leave for family reasons or was it financially motivated or he had just felt he had taken the club as far as he could. We will never know

Both him and the club have stated that, and it's not difficult to imagine that living away from your family is difficult. Why do people have to look for conspiracy theories all the time?

And if you believe that then you'll believe anything. Of course the club went along with that trumped-up bollox that's he left for family reasons. They're hardly likey to admit that he got tapped up, and has gone because he was offered a longer contract on better money. To a ***g poxy L2 club in an insignificant little backwater East Midlands town that most people would be hard pressed to find on the map. What would that sort of admission do to their credibility if they had to admit they weren't in a position to outbid Mansfield? If he had gone to a Championship club in the south the club would have said they couldn't stand in his way, wished him all the best in his new role, etc etc. I'll bet Coughlin wouldn't have had an issue with leaving his family in Sheffield then. F&&& me, some people are so gullible.
