Garner's transfer activity is as almost a big a concern as the results to me as I can't see what Barrett & Mitchell-Lewis add to the squad, apart from numbers We've still not replaced Lines and now have just Reilly as a striker after JCH, what happens if JCH picks up another injury? Perhaps BG was so desperate to get a job he was content to take it with the cut in the playing budget GC apparently warned fans was coming? Although he can't lose as if he does get sacked he'll still pick up another 2 years wages. I guess the big question is when does the atmosphere get so toxic, Buckle style, at the Mem that the BoD have to act? How many games should you give a new player ? 0.5, 2, 10, half a season ? How many games should you give a new manager ? 0.5, 2, 10, half a season, a whole season ? A player can be dropped to the bench, unfortunately you can't do that with a manager! The last two games have shown some improvements so hopefully that continues into the next two tougher looking games, but if we lose both of them then does BG really have the experience to turn things around? If we then lose at Tranmere you have to question if BoD are really going to stand by him as we plunge towards a relegation fight and home attendances plummet? We're in a mess and it's all the BoD's doing but the main man is now apparently out of the country for the foreseeable future!

Gasst, Another example of people "not understanding your view. 5 hours ago Gassy said: I'm glad to see there are a lot more positive people on here than me in wanting Ben to be given all season + summer etc.
I just hope that if it doesn't work out, those same people don't come on here slating our ownership for not getting rid earlier as 'the signs were there'.
Hindsight is always a wonderful thing but you cant have it both ways
Reply to Gassy - That's not really true. The moaners have it every way all the time. You can just moan with impunity, and if you are proved wrong (and what even constitutes proof in football) you just move on to the next moan.
This is evidenced by people moaning about us not signing any strikers last January, and then moaning that we signed JCH, and then moaning that we were gonna sell him so cheaply, and then moaning that we hadn't sold him.
So it's a bit rich to criticise those who support BG for their potential hypocrisy before anything has really happened. In any case what's so bad about backing your team/manager/whatever, just for the sake of it?
Which part of it is untrue exactly?
Just because people do it, doesn't make it right. That's a very dangerous precedent to set."
I'm not sure you've fully understood my point, I have no problem coming out and supporting Ben - just because I'm not on the same boat doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't be. But I don't want those people who would say "give Ben until September", but if he's fired in September the same people say "Wael out, he should have got rid of Ben in February".
If people can admit, "Yeah I thought to give him some more time, but clearly that was wrong" then fair play. Personally I wasn't overly impressed by the signing of JCH & Ogogo, but boy was I proved wrong! And I'm happy to admit it. Likewise I wasn't too happy with GC being appointed, but I even created a thread at the end of last season to say how I hold my hands up, it was the right call to fire DC and fair play to the board.
I've never said there's anything wrong with backing the team, so please don't suggest I have.
Edt: I see you conveniently edited that last part out of your post..
You seem to be one who likes to have strong views and then cover it all up and question other people when in fact perhaps you should question your own integrity. Instead of you not wanting people to come on and blame the board later perhaps you should look at how you have started off this by saying you are glad there are people who are more positive than you but they better not come on later and blame the Board. Perhaps it is you who needs to come back on when Ben Garner IS a success You seem to be a stirrer as I recall on another thread you actually go about blaming the Board over how they deal with contracts. Then say it looks like they have taken action and then back to moaning again.
Ben Garner is a long term project for the club but it is people like you who will not give him the time needed but worse still you bemoan anybody who doesn't agree with your view to come back at a later date to blame the Board. Whose side are you actually on? You set out as if you will only support the Board if they sack the Manager now. Yes we have all fully understood your point- we just don't agree with how you go about it. Think before you write and see that you are making out you are right and others should come back and apologise. Anyway you are appropriately named with a name you can hide behind.

This is a tricky one to answer.
This looks like a long term appointment as we look to change the way we play and slowly bring in players that BG believes are more suited to this new style.
I think the board were willing to suffer some short term pain in the hope that we'll be a better more attractive outfit to watch in the long run.
I believe they'll be hoping we can scrape enough points to stay up and give BG 2 or 3 months at the start of next season to show that progress is being made.
However, I don't think they would have anticipated zero wins from his first 10 games and the fewest league goals scored in all 4 divisions during that time.
We have 6 games next month. If BG is still looking for his first win at the end of February the board might be forced to make a change as we could then be looking over our shoulder and hoping Tranmere's form doesn't improve.

Everyone could come up with a suggestion on what is right or wrong with the Gas at this moment of time and anyone has a right to give constructive criticism. But my advice is if the Fans , Players , Staff, and the Board does not all pull in the same direction, then the club is doomed to failure. So to all of those who moan for the sake of moaning. My I suggest you stop it now because it just not helping. Thank you

No league win since beating Ipswich, slipping from a play off spot to mid-table, only one league goal since the turn of the year- there is plenty to justifiably moan about there and that.’s just for starters!

Tell me how Coughlan being offered a position at Mansfield was the board's doing. Well his departure was clearly more complicated than randomly being tapped up by a lower league club right in his favourite part of the country, which happily and amazingly coincided with his wish to move back there right then. It just doesn't happen like that. It would be like Wael noticing that Slaven Bilić is doing rather well at West Brom and deciding to take a punt on offering him a job at the Mem. So you have to ask if GC instigated the move, perhaps via his agent. And then you have to ask why, since we were riding high in the league, he hadn't been in the job very long, and he was reportedly happy with the stadium and other facilities? Was it suggested to him that he should move on if he couldn't arrest the decline in attendances? Had he become unhappy with his budget? Or the lack of any progress behind the scenes? Had he fallen out with the board or other senior people? Something fishy was going on. The official explanation for his departure is so unlikely as to be a bit ludicrous. So, yes, I would say his departure was very clearly linked to his relationship with the board. I don't know the exact reasons, of course, but I'm not totally gullible.

You've asked a lot of questions without answering them and then drawn a conclusion. So like you say, we don't know. I'm not sure what's gullible about admitting that. There has been investment in the squad in January so that element doesn't hold much water.

What's the betting LJG doesn't reply to that well worded post? GC's outbursts at the Blue Diamond lunch and post Ipswich match, just fall in deaf ears to the gullible. You lost your bet. I notice you still haven't answered. "The Dubliner implied during his remarkable post-match press conference at Portman Road that a lack of financial resources and a feeling he has taken the club as far as he can go have made him question is future." "Coughlan met with club president Wael Al-Qadi in Bristol earlier this month, a day after the penalty shootout win over Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy, where the January transfer window was a main topic of conversation." So I guess in your view it was just pure chance Mansfield offered GC a job and it was nothing to do with him apparently being unhappy after what ever was discussed in that meeting about this month's transfer window, after which it seems he questioned his future?
