Fair play for the club arranging this and (finally) getting it out there to us. We ask for better communication, and things like this are clearly a step in the right direction. The big issues that we all want to know about obviously are not at a stage where there's anything worth saying. Like it or lump it that is the way it is, but I'm still bitterly disappointed about the UWE collapse. I know it's long gone now, but we surely had a golden opportunity there, and I wish we fans could have some insight into the reasons why that opportunity was thrown away. The simple fact is that I along with many other Gasheads, simply do not trust the Al Qadis anymore. The whole Colony announcement then silence debacle, and the apparent lack of due diligence on their part regarding the financial maintenance of this club, just do not promote a feeling of trust. Whether that can be mended I don't know, but I think the only way it could be is if we actually see some GENUINE progress made on the large scale infrastructure. Yes it's time consuming and difficult to achieve, but they need to deliver it and soon otherwise our club really will be walking on ever thinning ice. Waiting a month for a Q and A that says f**k all about the important issues is a step in the right direction?? Fair play to you mate, I wish I still had your optimism. We are going one way and that’s down the pan with this current lot, of bloody Forest Green can build a new stadium, Peterborough have fresh plans for a new one, what have we, nothing a dump with pathetic added on tents, that embarrassment put up at the beginning of this season is a total joke. All those years ago there were grants for new stands etc, we must be the only club who never took advantage of it. We now have a two man board and a manager who has a long term project, sorry but footballs about wining games not projects, yes I’m angry and fed up, why I encouraged my son into this I’ll never know.

I think that just about perfectly sums up the state of play at Bristol Rovers. ☹️
It’s sh** and it ain’t gonna get any better.

Better than his interview with Twenyman, but still pretty terrible in general. Considering we've won awards for marketing, can we not get a proper microphone, a better camera (or at least put it at eye level about 1 meter further away rather than aiming at his neck) and a more professional setting?
As for the answers, I really hated the propaganda they were forcing out. In fact, it really made me quite watered off. When he talks about 'moving forward to play attractive, attacking football' and then they show possibly the 1 good attack we had in 3 months (which didn't even go in), to make it out like our drop from 4th was justified ffs. Straight out of Putin's textbook.
I felt like they delayed this just so Starnes could mention 'well we had a fans forum last week', to make it seem like they're doing a lot more. When in truth, we won't hear from anyone again until 2021.
I really disliked the way he spoke about the dropping of attendances as well, pinning it on fans for making life difficult. No Martin, you had the crowds but threw them away with sh** communication, a sh** managerial appointment who doesn't have a clue and no facilities update.
We've gone from Wael telling us previously that "We have identified one site, along with others, we are very interested in" to now "The current owners remain very positive about trying to find a new site for a stadium, but as previous owners have found it is extremely difficult finding a site that is suitable for development". Assuming Martin is telling us the truth (HA) then we've gone backwards?
He wants to talk about Brighton and how it took a while for them?! They left their ground in 97 and were in the Falmer by 2011. 14 years from leaving to Gillingham, going to the Withdean, finding a site, planning the stadium and then building it. We moved to the Mem in 96 and we've stuck a roof on top of a couple of stands and hired a few tents...
The entire interview had a negative tone and feel to it and the energy level & passion was non-existent.
I genuinely can't think of a single positive about Bristol Rovers at the moment.

I found a lot of the football stuff interesting and enlightening. Its obvious from the interview that they were not happy with coughlan and his style of football despite the high position, probably blaming that for the drop in attendance. The stuff about the recruiting and contract process was also worth hearing. The new stadium bit was vague but we already know they have no answer to that issue so that did not surprise me. Reasonably good news is the reduced losses.

I do feel for the club this season in some regards. They did good business in the summer and got a lot of players that were suited to Coughlan's football and let him do his thing. We were performing at a very high level, but the club was still losing money and if we had somehow got promoted, we'd have either been slaughtered in the Championship next season or forced to spend big which probably would have crippled us financially and we might have ended up in the kind of situation a club like Macclesfield are in right now.
So when Coughlan suddenly leaves, they see an opportunity. You see Peterborough's business model or buying low and selling high and it's made them able to spend big on players like Mo Eisa, finances way beyond what should be their means as a football club, so the club want a manager who develops young players and can make the club more sustainable long term. That rules out the likes of Holloway, who although would have definitely got Gasheads going, would have likely openly criticised the board due to the understandable lack of funding in regards to transfers, Holloway probably would have expected a DC 18-19 summer window every season, so they don't go in for him. They try for Nathan Jones, but he thinks he can get a better job, so says no. And then in comes the perfect candidate. A young coach who had a key influence in developing Wilfried Zaha, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Moses at Crystal Palace, personally tutored by Jose Mourinho, and spoken very highly by the likes of Tony Pulis and Ian Holloway. He's ready to implement an attacking style of play. He has good contacts. The only issue is; he doesn't have any managerial experience. The team was on a high due to results, but due to Coughlan's unexpected departure from the club, and a new unproven manager who was likely heavily distracted by family issues, our results turned sour quickly. Meaning that even when there wasn't an injury crisis anymore, and Garner was back from his extended leave. He couldn't turn it around. Performances improved, but after a few games of playing great and then still losing we somehow scrape an undeserved win against Blackpool. Surely this is the turnaround? We play away to Sunderland and play about as well as you could have realistically wanted, only for Ogogo to get sent off and for us to get battered.
This is why I can't blame the people up top for the appointment of Garner and using it as a reason to get them out, because I think, given the amount of money that we're losing, it was a perfectly reasonable solution. And although I'm now GarnerOut, I would still perfectly understand if the club kept him on until the end of the season and gave him the summer to have a squad clearout. Plus, I struggle to see how an appointment of Hargreaves, Maher or Mansell (the only likely appointments at this point), would change our fortunes whatsoever

Sorry, that was pathetic! That’s just confirmed my decision, to not buy a season ticket I think supporters would have more respect if they actually did a live Q and A. At least you would feel engaged and part of the process and they could give more detailed answers and fans could get across their concerns. I guess the main question I would ask now is can the owners guarantee the Memorial Stadium will not be sold unless we have a brand new ground to go to. i agree mate, us, as supporters, have so many questions we’d like to ask. But it’s the same old thing, filtered questions being delivered. The whole club from the top stinks at present.

Straight bat Starnes filled me with no optimism at all. General feeling I got was we are cost cutting, its going to be sh*t but please buy a season ticket!! It pains me to say this but I wont be renewing my season ticket next year as well as my 5 other family members that attend.

I think Mansell has the personality to get the squad up for it again and possibly play a bit. I would suggest the main issue with garner is the inability to grab a player by the ears and make them love the shirt. Maybe he is boring them to death with charts, dots on ipad screens and running stats.

I lost trust in the Al Qadis on Aug 3rd 2017 when UWE collapsed and Wael was too cowardly to front up and talk to the fans, sending an exasperated Hamer out instead to talk about the new Crazy Gang. I now doubt that the Al Qadis ever had the wherewithal to deliver UWE and the reason it collapsed was simply because they didn’t have the ability or the funds to deliver it. If only they’d said that when they took over, the current state of play would be more acceptable. That’s about where I am as well. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when it came to the UWE, when they said the deal wasn’t right for us I believed them and hoped that we would move on. Like you ftb, I now think it looks like the AQs never had the resources, funds, whatever to do what was needed and we’ve been fed bs. As it is it has been stagnation and even moving backwards because all that good-will and momentum we had then has been lost. All they needed to do was be honest and communicate stuff good or bad. We can take bad news we’ve had so much of it. But they lacked the b**** to tell us. UTG!

The dire communication when the UWE deal went sour stinks of them not knowing how to save face, and simply just burying their heads in the sand. Mind you, if they did come out and say "sorry everyone, we're in way over our heads, we didn't perform due diligence and can't afford to do what we said we would, so now we're all stuck" they would have looked completely idiotic. At least I'd have respected them a bit more for fronting up though, rather than letting the situation drag on indefinitely.

Might be good at his job for all I know but I find his lack of any enthusiasm and passion really demoralising.
He has all the charisma of over-cooked cabbage.

This was very obvious two months ago, a combination of price and the ALQ’s realising they were being had over on the sale of the current ground. Obvious to who? The only thing we heard about the fruit market site was Waels interview before the Blackpool game which indicated full steam ahead. Nothing since, so where has your information come from? I don’t think it takes a genius to work out that the deal fell through a few months ago. It just takes reading of all the business documents available of the parties involved. It seems to me that the ALQ’s have realised that other parties involved in the potential takeover didn’t necessarily have the clubs long term future at heart. It could be that the ALQ’s are actually doing their best to avoid a situation akin to the disaster of the late 40’s when Eastville was sold. It wouldn’t surprise me to see us struggle on the pitch for a couple of years in an attempt to become a more sustainable club.

Point 1 - can you share the business documents please? Point 2 - That's an interesting assumption to come to. How did you get there? I'd personally have thought if any deal was off, its because Total Produce want more money than the buyers are currently offering. I very much doubt Wael suddenly had a change of heart and told them to call the deal off because he doesn't feel they have the clubs long term future at heart.

There will not be a stadium at the FM, so let's end this talk right now. It's dead.
