An interesting read, but I would like to point this out... "Aston Villa, Steaua Bucharest, PSV Eindhoven and Red Star Belgrade could win the European Cup." They won the old European Cup because of the format. One team from each country, with every round being a knock-out round. The current Champions League is designed to help the bigger clubs progress. In the old format, one bad game and you could be out. In the current format a big team could have two or three bad games in the league stage and still progress.

Yes it is an interesting read. Whilst I might agree as a fan of BRFC that modern football is broken I’d have to say that although football as I knew it in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s is nothing like it is now I bet those in the PL and Championship will be thinking that it’s the best it’s ever been. The PL might be cut off from the top 6 but they are still way above the rest of football in England. And its just that us in the lower two leagues are only now recognising that we have been left adrift and that the gap between the top leagues and the rest is huge and unlikely to be bridged without enormous resources. Which effectively means we are up the creek without a paddle.☹️ Thanks for posting it hartcliffe. UTG!
