Yes oldie that is it isn’t it? The sense of entitlement that seems to emanate from people like BJ is overwhelming. He sometimes looks like a naughty boy caught doing something but like Trump in the absence of a credible alternative or opposition he will get away with it. I don’t know the exact numbers but the cabinet seems to be overwhelmingly privately educated, who wouldn’t know the problems facing normal people if they were faced with them, which they are.

BJ will get a bit of a backlash over Huawei but with an 80 majority he will stil get the 5G issues passed. His only opposition at the moment is sat behind him and can't see enough turning this parliament.

I think Johnson is 'doing a Trump' with this holiday nonsense. He probably knows that nothing untoward took place, so he says nothing to let the opposition work themselves up into a frenzy. Eventually an investigation will take place, and the result is that we would find out that nothing untoward happened. The result is that the opposition look foolish with the added bonus that while the opposition spend time and resources on this issue when the real job of the opposition is being ignored. Johnson ends up the winner. Johnson will then talk about how he is trying to run the country while the opposition are only concerned with gossip. See Trump v Democrats. The truth is that the majority of people don't give a toss about Johnson's holiday. It is a non-issue to the voters.

Either way the culture coming out of Downing Street is one set by BJ and his Eton cronies.

However, look at the Shadow Education Minister, who left school at 16 pregnant. You can only feel horror at the thought that she may one day be in a senior government position. I personally see nothing wrong with having a private education, and that's from a Comprehensive School boy !

"Failing Grayling" is up for the Intelligence Committee gig according to the Sun. Nothing to do with the Russia report I'm sure.

Excl: Boris Johnson sparks anger among Tory MPs by parachuting Chris Grayling into prized Commons job - chairman of Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee.

It just gets worse doesn’t it? Although not the whole reason, a lack of any opposition, a huge majority and the lack of any parliamentary scrutiny means that BJ can do what he likes, how he likes to do it with whatever personnel as possible. Blimey, putting Grayling up for the head of the Intelligence Committee must be the biggest gaffe even BJ can make. Not much scrutiny coming from that direction. I am presuming that the Coronavirus crisis is akin to the London bombings insofar as it is a good time to bury bad news. Talk about an own goal!

I see no.10 are briefing to Peston, who then publishes the planned Coronavirus strategy
Surely this stuff sould be coming from the PM on TV on all manor outlets, not selected journos or pieces by Hancock in the Torygraph
Nothing like causing confusion to the public that pointlessly panic buy as it is

No, I've nothing against people having a private education either nobby but I would imagine that most who have a private education may well have started it at age 11 or even earlier. In other words from the age of 11 (or earlier) it’s set that children who have a private education are pre-determined to be our leaders and betters whereas those of us who came through state education, albeit grammar schools, also have a pre-determined place, it’s just not as high. And I know that there are examples of people who have bucked the trend through sheer talent. It just seems that if you have talent and come through the private system you have a better number of opportunities than if you are talented and come through the state system. I guess it’s more the sense of entitlement private educated people have. Almost as if their position is a given. Wheels within wheels, part of the BJ-club or Eton club. Having read this it sounds a bit of a rant, but it’s not meant to be. I couldn’t give a scoobie but in this day and age it almost seems we’re gong backwards in terms of social mobility and opportunities for state educated children. And what’s made it worse is that these same privately educated “elite” are in charge of the education system! Mmm not sure they are that serious about increasing opportunities or making sure the status quo continues. They starve schools of money and by implication staff and resources so that they can turn round and say “well these people are better qualified to do the job.” They may well be but it’s not rocket science as to the reasons why. So that it’s clear, I’m not advocating stopping private education just means whereby all children are given the same opportunities.
