Haven't been able to think about anything all day apart from a hazy memory of a Paul Tait goal in the mid 2000s. In my head, he did a gazza flick over a player's, then on the volley, lobbed the goalie from 25 yards. Can anyone confirm that this actually happened?

Were the official no 9 Black Arab match worn shorts on eBay worn by Junior Agogo or Tait?

My memory of Paul Tait was him being utter useless. However I've just checked his stats and he actually got 12 goals in 33 appearances in the 03/04 season. Turns out he was an absolute goal machine in comparison to Tommy Nichols.

It was a move between him and an City loanee we had at the time. Can’t recall his name. Absolutely brilliant goal but not 25 yards, think it was just inside the area.

Once saw the 'goal machine' eat a pie less than an hour before kick off.

He could have eaten loads of pies but wouldn’t have made any difference - he was that skinny !

I remember the goal and how Soccer AM repeated it over and over. Paul Tait, goal machine and superb human being.

I recall Tait hitting the crossbar at the Thatchers (back then Blackthorn) End from what must’ve been almost the half way line? Again, I may have completely made that up but I recall something like that occurring.

Paul taits strike partner if I remember rightly was guilliano grazioli. Excuse spelling. (Loved rolling that name off the the tounge, along with the Latvian won’t bother to spell that 1.) Grazioli bought in the late great junior agogo, which then bought in the legend Ricky Lambert. Paul tait was proper crud, I remember that for a fact:

It was a midweek game,Im sure against Hull City pre there Premiership days. It was like the Gazza goal against Scotland in Euro 96, or karel poborsky's for the Czech in the same Euros...? Always thought Tait was underrated, much better that the likes of Nicolls as PT always scored...

Again, I may have completely made that up but I recall something like that occurring. I remember that clear as day. It was a 3-1 win against Swansea, 27th August 2002. He took the ball down, saw the keeper off his line from about 45 yards, and just smashed it, like you said hit the crossbar. I was right behind it.

Remember him curling in a beauty against hull at the tent end when we were rock bottom and they were top.

Turns out he was an absolute goal machine in comparison to Tommy Nichols. If you look back over the last 15/20 years we had a few strikers that at the time we didn’t rate very highly but often they would get more than 10 goals a season. Tait, Matt Harold, Darrel Duffy to name a few. Ironically we would now love to have a second striker who could score ten goals in a season!
