I remember people saying similar before um Mansfield? We got non league ground with no money 2 divisions away from non League. Im sorry but if BG does not get replaced asap, or does not improve us and does his job then this time next year we will already be a L2 side. Our owners have shown nothing about any kinda interest in really wanting improving us since the UWE went tits up and its pretty much fact that they want out. They seem to have no respect for our fanbase and never say anything in regards our future. We have huge debts that have been created since they took over. Our crowds are the lowest in many years and our near neighbours are stealing a generation of new Bristol fans and get 20k a week and will be a premiership club in the next season or two. If we drop into L2 again we will be in the worst place we have been when dropping into that level against our other two periods there. No one said non league would happen before, and it should have happened the season we finished 2nd bottom of the football league in the mid 00's when halifax were the only side to go down. The past given how we are run is, or will repeat itself as we are a mess from top to bottom.

Communication is a big issue with the owners, but I don't believe they will let us go under. I think Wael has just realised that running Bristol Rovers is a lot more difficult than he thought. He has openly said they would be willing to sell to somebody who can take the club forward better than them. To be fair they have brought in a manager who has promised to play better football and backed him in the transfer window, albeit this hasn't been a success so far. Twerton Park has a lot of character and some great memories for many gas heads, but the facilities at The Mem are far better and lots of short term improvements have been made. I'm dissolutioned at the moment, but if Garner's results don't improve, someone else will come in and turn things around to some extent. That's football.

I think we are well away from this sort of Scenario. Either way I think I'd lose interest in football altogether rather than follow a phoenix club but you never know unless it happens. Hopefully it doesn't but the football bubble has to burst at some point.

They are miles ahead of us in every respect, and have been for quite some time. We'll never compete with them, unless their multi billionaire owner decides he's had enough. Wael took over in 2016, when we were in debt. We've always been in debt. It's their debt, they look after it. We were also in League 2. Now, League 1 where players wage demands and signing on fees have increased, which doesn't help. And unless something goes seriously wrong, we'll be in League 1 next Season as well. It's not a brilliant situation we find ourselves in but lets's not get into the frame of mind where you're saying we're on our way to the Conference. We're not Dads Army. Yet.

This thread is laughable. Looking at the worse case scenario is sensible given our history, infrastructure and debt.

Without outside investment the decline of our club is certain. That’s the same for countless clubs as well though. All lower league clubs that don’t have significant outside investment are on the same trajectory, just we are all on different parts of that downward curve.
The league structure needs a complete over haul outside of the premier league and championship. A regionalised league system would be a good place to start. I think there will be pressure to achieve this even from the eco stand point in years to come.

The league structure needs a complete over haul outside of the premier league and championship. A regionalised league system would be a good place to start. I think there will be pressure to achieve this even from the eco stand point in years to come. Agree with so much of that. But the overhaul is needed for the Championship as well. The level of debt in that league is way off the scale and clubs think they can avoid it by clever schemes that enable them to keep building the debt in the hope they win the golden ticket of promotion to the PL. We talk about Bury but see the level of debt that Derby and Sheffield Wednesday and they are both in the “in-tray” of the EFL to be dealt with. That will be interesting, either dealt with or swept under the carpet. Regionalisation I’m not too sure. Not completely convinced it’s the travelling costs that are sending clubs into debt more the unsustainable wages for what are only mediocre players. Certainly sending Carlisle to Plymouth on a Tuesday night is stupid but a more common sense approach could overcome the scheduling problems. I see players who can’t pass a ball, wingers that can’t clear the first defender and generally poorly skilled players being paid wages that the incomes of the clubs can’t afford. Crazy, and would never happen in any other business, which we are told football is. But there will be pressure to change as you say and that will be good. The current system is unsustainable yet the clubs will go further into debt before they do anything about it. Bury were the first but I suspect that others will follow, even this summer. As regards Rovers, I would never complain if they started to make efforts to live within their means even if it meant playing in League 2. But I’m sure I would be in a minority of under 10 people! 😉 UTG!

Ive never got the comparison with City before now either.I was always of the mind that if we do our thing and do it well then its no interest to me or us what they do. However that was when they were in the old Ashton gate and getting gates of 9k/10k... and on our level. Now they have a great stadium, getting gates of 20k and are a prem side in the waiting. They are stealing the Bristol yough of today due to them doing well and us being stuck in the 1970s. As for unless something goes "seriously wrong" we will be still in L1 next season I agree.Dispute how awlful we have been since GC left we will be in L1 next season due to the 3 teams in the bottom 3 being terrible.Im saying if we dont see much improved performances and results before now and the end of the season then we are dead certs to go down this time next year with BG in charge.

After watching that car crash of a Q&A, the prospect of a Phoenix club is looking more attractive. Wouldn't mind betting a fan owned BRFC would build a new ground in a shorter timeframe than the current owners either.

Bury will be in the NW Counties league second division next season.Amazingly the Isle of Man are in too so not sure how that will work. The ref will blow a whistle and men will kick a ball about trying to get it into a net

I want my club back by whatever means. More then that id love to see our fans grow a set of balls for once and challenge the pathetic shower running the gas I am willing to join in with a group of other angry middle age men and wave a multi coloured scarf around my head on the terrace. Has this been done before? That will show em!
