Stick with BG. He deserves another transfer window as the whole of the midfield needs replacing. Complete and utter nonsense. Our midfield had us challenging for promotion until BG came in. Ogogo, Upson. Sercombe and even Clarke are quality League 1 players who we would struggle to replace with anyone better without spending huge amounts of money. That just isn’t going to happen. Let’s get behind the lads again, fill them with as much confidence as we can as the 12th man and believe in them like GC did. I take your point but quality league 1 players might be stretching things a bit far. Bar Sercombe they are all very similar in that they aren't at all creative but at the same time protect the back 3/4 well. The difference is that GC used them as a screen which is partly why our defensive record was so good. Garner wants his midfielders to play differently and unfortunately they are struggling to adapt. I don't know the answer but I'd be interested to see how many assists they have between them this season I doubt it would take long to count them up.

who wants to buy in to a losing manager? You??? And dont tell anyone to butt out as we have the right to make conversation on here hence why it's a open forum! I've nothing against BG and I too would of liked it to work out but let's see how you will feel 10 games into next season with the same water poor results. We did with Francis after he failed miserably in his first attempt at management at Exeter :-) Unfair comparison really as Francis won 6 games at Exeter!

Garner will employ a false 9 and the christmas tree formation while using inverted wingers for the southend game. The players will be right onboard with this as he will have a full week on the training ground to put across his advanced thinking. Harries and barrett are not quite ready to play yet but rest assured they are future stars at the club. And we`ll go orthodox for the first 45 minutes, then switch to southpaw for the second.

I would question your we don't often lose at Southend. I haven't looked up the records but I can't say I have that many happy memories of visits to Roots Hall. I have the feeling we will struggle to get anything this weekend as to beat a team you have to score goals however bad the opposition and at the moment it is not something we have been doing. Shrewsbury, Tranmere and Bolton have all struggled badly recently and yet we have only managed two points out of 9.

It looks to me that we've only scored in one game (2 goals at home to ten man Blackpool) out of our last four fixtures. Based on that historical record, it is unlikely that we will score many at Southend.
Despite this exciting new era of expansive total football we don't appear to score many goals or win many points. On the other hand our possession statistics are improving. After all, we got 48% of the ball against the mighty Shrewsbury. Great, eh?

Yes but you have to take into account that Shrewsbury had 11 men, the cheating buggers.

Lost 5-2 to Plymouth as well recently. Like I've said before, the budget has been cut for the development squad and it's just a token gesture these days.

Before this season the development squad seldom lost a game but this season they mostly lose. Regarding the possible budget cut for the dev squad,it does not sit well with the garner plan does it?

I don't think BG will be sacked at any time this season. The board brought him in with a long-term project in mind and won't want to stamp up the bill that comes with ditching him so soon.
I also don't think BG will resign because if he does before he turns things around he's done as a manager.
Strap in.

I believe garner will get sacked if we lose at southend. The owner will then appoint a manager to carry on with the same plan but with a cunning plan to sneak a few wins in on the way to getting a young team who can pass the ball to each other.

I thought, as Whitney once told Wael when he stopped her for a selfie, the children are our future? If we're not spending any money on the stadium or the training ground, cutting the backroom staff, and now not investing in the development squad, what on earth is the point of the owners even being here?

The reality is that all they(Wael and Starnes) are trying to do is buy time. Managers don’t have a long time project, that’s the job of the academy manager. The team was good enough to mount a challenge before Christmas yet all of a sudden they’re not. So many questions need to be asked with no prospect of them being answered.

Of course Southend are garbage. But so are we! Yes, it almost like a play-off between the two worst teams in league 1. How has it all gone so wrong?
