I read about Brown Split today for the first time in years. Half of bitter and a bottle of brown ale. I used to drink it when underage because I thought it made me look mature and worldly.
But I hadn't heard of it for decades.
What other long-forgotten drinks did you favour?
I'll give you one more I drank in the days of disco, mainly at Tiffany's and Raquel's.
Lager and blackcurrant.
Ye gods.....

Snakebite used to be all the rage until they banned it at our local as it was causing too many scraps lol! Half lager, half rough cider. Loopy juice.

Light Split, the working man's drink in the 60s Black and Tan, half of Guinness topped to a pint with Scrumpy. Proper. The ladies used to drink Pony, us hardcore from Knowle, when in the mood, Russian Imperial Stout, (Courage) ( Gold Label was a substitute)

Ye gods..... Brow split. That brings back memories of when i moved from Glasgow in 1973 and all the pubs were Courage. I meeded "courage" to drink the stuff and so found by adding brown ale it was drinkable. Thankfully not long after then the Monopolies Commission made Courage sell off 40 of their pubs which kick started to explosion of decent ale houses in bristol.

Diamond White. Jesus what was I thinking? Its weird looking back at the ciders available when I was a teenager.... The media and the authorities had demonized alcopops as the danger to kids, but the reality was that everyone was getting f*cked up on 8% ethanol like white lightening and turbo white which could be picked up for 70p a litre....
