How did that work out for you in the end it worked out well thanks. The club used Tony Craigs 600th appearance to turn any negativity into positive energy well before the match even started. Players were transformed by playing for one of the squad leaders instead of the manager and it was back to business as usual without anyone dragging their heels and not playing near their potential. The fans could smell the gas and players like Alfie were stoking the atmosphere up even more before kick off. A fine effort from fans and players alike and a reminder of how the Rovers should be. Fingers crossed for a change of mindset from the lads, a better understanding of what motivates the players and another win or two to secure safety in the league and steady the ship. So had it only been Craig's 599th appearance we'd have lost ? Good job GC wasn't counting them then. |

That’s good then it’s just that judging by comments on here yesterday I was expecting a 90 mins of abuse directed at the manager as the keyboard warriors demanded their own way. |

The fan's did good last night and those of us who attended were rewarded with a good solid performance, hopefully this will continue on Saturday.

I agree with that except stumbled upon. What we have is an average at best possibly even relegation battler squad in terms of technicality but there is a way of playing that Coughlan found at the end of last season and brought the right players in at the right time to strengthen that and when we stick to that formation and way of playing literally every club in this division struggles to cope with us. Those that remember our championship winning season 89/90 will see the similarities. I’m not saying we should stick with it forever things can evolve but those kind of things take time and you can’t chsnge things like Garner has tried to change things in 3 months. He’s only a kid he’s learning but fair play credit where it’s due tonight he got it right . What a win. I may be wrong but I thought the 3-5-2 was originally played because of injuries, a complete lack of wingers, and a surplus of central midfielder/defenders. It was a happy revelation and credit to GC for then seeing that it worked and sticking with it. Wow, we won. It's nice to feel that feeling. Ben still has a lot to learn but well done. I missed the game due to not wanting to experience the bad feelings I have had for the last eighteen games we have lost.

I'm getting fed up with these sides who go out to con the gullible refs with fake injuries, diving, holding heads etc. Didn't they have four or five head injuries last night? If the game is supposed to take head injuries very seriously (and it should) and it's now the only injury reason the ref should stop the game, then they need to take conning the ref over head injuries equally seriously, as it's players themselves undermining the whole idea of protecting the players. No wonder we had the ref ignoring our head injuries for that goal the other week. |

I assume the ref called his bullshit and he jumped up in a flash and pretty much attacked the referee screaming and getting in his face. Personally, I think he got off lucky with a yellow for that tbh. This is the problem with football, a lack of respect and people will do anything to cheat. Until we start having physios on the pitch while play continues, like Rugby, nothing will change |

There seems to be a bit of friction between local fans (ie the ones who live near eg. Bristol and went coz of that) and the long-travelling Sunderland-based ones. |

It was brilliant tonight but I am concerned about the players attitude. What we had tonight was effort and determination, was it just because we were playing Sunderland? A good team has the right attitude against both high and low sides. We need to see it against the Southend's too. JCH was a different player tonight. Mitchell- Lawson was pushed right up to support JCH last night. Also, JCH wasn't fit for Southend. We need him badly even when he's not on his game. We need another big striker as back up - Timmy looks a long way off being that. |
