I think I'd better stop posting on this subject, getting too wound up by people that don't really think before committing thoughts to posts.

Fwiw the current perceived mortality rate is skewed by the fact that many authorities are limiting testing largely to known cases, and sometimes, only known serious cases, so it is likely to be lower than that.
eg in Germany were they have random testing the mortality rate looks significantly lower.

There are many threads for people to argue about Coronavirus. Wouldn't it be better to argue there, rather than in here?
People who actually need help might have their message lost in all the noise.

Well said. I have already mentioned that I isolate anyway but this is awful, even the postie stands back from you and leaves the machine that you sign, on the doorstep, after wiping it down. I don’t think I have ever felt this level of complete isolation and I don’t have immediate family so I rely on my niece and nephew to pop in, when they are able. Thank god I kept Netflix. I am constantly amazed that despite how serious Boris is when he explains the gravity of the situation, there are still a huge number of people that just don't get it. I phoned my 89 y/o father yesterday to make sure he was following guidelines. I explained that even though he only lives around the corner, I would not be visiting for the foreseeable future - or at least only talking to him from the end of the driveway, bringing shopping to hand over at the door etc. "Are you now safely locked down?" I asked, "yes, we have just got back from the bank." His partner explained that they would be going to the supermarket together, but Dad would wait in the car!! . My sister was far more brutal - she apparently told him that if he ended up in hospital and it was a choice of a ventilator for him or for a child, it would be given to the child! but I expect they will carry on virtually as normal like hundreds of others. I've also been to the shops this morning, and there were more people over 70 than under - I'm not sure if they simply don't have anyone to look after them and shop for them, in which case I am doing them an injustice. As for the under 70s, they all wanted to be in my space, the new phrase "social distancing" hasn't reached Oldfield Park yet - I actually couldn't wait to get back in to my house. If Boris could have seen the street today he would be raging, and at this rate the country will get what's coming to it! Rant over, now can we just get back to talking about something more cheerful? .... just for a few moments? I have seen posts, on various social media, that just do my head in. It’s all I, me, mine. People are still joking about it but it seems that pubs closing has been the one that has seen this bring out the worst in many. I have to self edit due to the level of outright idiocy. I guess many must have a death wish. I have now stopped replying as my replies wouldn’t be nice. I’m stunned by the ignorance on show, it really is beyond anything I would have expected. Crazy times

They have had more cases but less death. Our NHS just doesn’t have the equipment to deal with this, en masse EDIT. We have FIVE THOUSAND ventilators in the entire country. Laugh at that if you wish but it’s very frightening when you see cases of people dying in various countries, due to lack of them and they Italy many more than us and we are 2-3 weeks behind the Italian curve.

You could see it lurking under the surface during “normal” times, this pandemic has brought it to the light and revealed it in all it’s ugliness. I was on a train yesterday with some Millwall fans who were “bragging” about having coronavirus and trying to cough in people’s airspace. One wiped his spit on the button that opened the carriage door. They were so thuggish that no-one dared challenge them, unfortunately. They seemed very aggrieved that “they have taken our football off us”. Despicable cretins. I worry that these people are the ones who will inherit the earth if it truly goes tits up.

Most people are not like this. Some people would be behave badly if they were allowed to get away with it and a smaller amount behave badly if they're not. Most people are fine. I don't think Millwall fans can be put up as the bench mark of how society is. Underneath that behaviour is really fear, not that they would ever admit it.

It really is enough to make me despair but glad I never had kids. I have decided to stop all social ( antisocial in reality) media as I am getting angry & would, easily, upset the mob. I knew most are self absorbed but this is so ugly, not to mention dangerous intelligence & common sense don’t seem to go hand in hand

Solution get the Army out now and ration the number of items that can be purchased. I am embarrassed and ashamed to live here.

Plenty of good tales out there too, it isn't all selfishness. The young have a lot to teach us. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-51907474A seven-year-old boy has been delivering free toilet rolls to his elderly neighbours as panic-buying has seen some supermarket shelves emptied of household goods. Jimmy-Dean Hudson, from Westcliff, in Southend, said he wanted to help people by spending his pocket money on the bathroom staple.

I agree there are Stuart however there are a significant minority that don't give a toss and will just do what they want to do making it potentially catastrophic for the rest of us. You know Llangollen all the pubs etc are closed but it's busier than a bank holiday today so the locals are taking photos and asking the local MP to do something, there's a photo on the Llangollen Web site of Snowdon today car parks mobbed queues on the road what the f..k is wrong with people.

It’s the same in coastal areas, because it’s a nice day people have gone for a ****ing walk en mass. We’re probably going to end up under a military lockdown soon because of these idiots.

Don’t agree. I continued visiting the pub because if it was in the publics best interest not too they would have shut them rather than advise not to go there. We are not on lockdown yet. People can walk where they want national parks etc still open and when it is no longer safe too they too will be shut. I’m self employed builder and I have had all my materials delivered to finish the job. About 3 weeks work. I will be going to work until either that job is finished or we’re in lockdown. What is being offered to self employed is no where near enough to stop me going to work while I can.

Can't help anyone, Bristol wise. Sorry. Trying to help a couple of the oldies around my area. Supermarkets were pretty much cleaned out here earlier in the week. Much better now. There's plenty of food. The logistics of getting it to the supermarket is the problem. No toilet paper of course.
Well done to everyone offering help in this thread.
To be honest I'm struggling mentally a bit today. I work as a courier for a pathology company. So I'm still driving around as normal. But to see people sat close outside the pub yesterday. And a couple of women meet & greet with a hub and a kiss is just bizarre after all the warnings we've had.
I had to console a bloke who was crying in a medical centre car park the other day. And I'm Dam useless at things like that. He was telling me how he'd just gone back to work after three weeks off. Had very little food for him and his family. He'd been to over a dozen chemists to get a ventolin spray for his daughter and there were none available anywhere on the coast.
Good Luck everyone.

Waaaaaayyyy behind with testing over here. No social medicine so millions won’t even go to the doctors. People still acting like it’s no biggie. Got a feeling it’s gonna explode over here worse than anywhere else. Anyway...if anyone in the Fort Lauderdale/Boca Raton area needs groceries me and my friends can help next week if we’re not on lockdown😉. Stay safe my fellow Gas Heads. UTG!

Absolutely unbelievable how many people are ignoring the advice down here in VIC too mate. Selfish pricks. We're sleepwalking into a disaster. I went to our local beach this afternoon. Had to get out and about and destress. The beach is my favourite place. The beach is usually quiet, but I was prepared to turn around and come home. I thought it might be packed after the beaches were closed in Sydney. Got a parking spot easily and wandered down. Had a chat to the life guards. But the bloke in charge who was the club president claimed Covid 19 is just "a bit of flu and nothing to worry about". Now if a bloke like that is saying it's nothing to worry about imagine what the bogans think. Anyhow kept a safe distance from everyone and went for a walk. Got home and the stress levels went straight back up. Guess I'll find out tomorrow if I'm an essential service.
My missus had to take the kids to another beach. I wasn't happy about it but they wanted to go. There were more people there and hence an issue with the more than 500 crowd thing.
The beers and ciders are going down a treat tonight.
