What a night that was up there with the Dagenham game one of the best days supporting the Gas. Absolutely battered them on the evening, if it would have been a boxing match they would have thrown the towel in. It was great times being a Rovers the Blackpool trip was a formality. Also what Holloway said on top the bus "Lets play a game, lets find a City fan " was true they just couldn't accept poor old rag bag Rovers turning the over. It carried on for a few more years us being top team in Bristol but unfortunately i cant see it happening again. UTG

What a great watch that is. That Carl Saunders shimmy on the edge of the area in the build up to the second goal is amazing. Awesome stuff.

I ran the line that night at Forest and when the old boy paid us our expenses and told me the result,I went totally ballistic and drove home to do a night shift in the Police at Stafford.Cloud nine the whole shift and when a complaint came in about someone having a bonfire in the middle of the night I told the old dear not to worry about such trivia as it was a wonderful and historical day in our history. 3 rd May 2014 was not so memorable and was only the third time in my long life I felt badly let down.

Interesting video showed what an influential player Boris was in that team, seen his son a few times for academy and he gives all the indications that he has what it takes to make it, have hopes of him solving some of our creativity shortcomings, hope so! good to hear the voice of Doug Hillard to, solid full back ,built like the proverbial, seen him score from half way line at Eastville, not deliberate mind! noticed commentator celebrating Ollie scoring penalty almost before he hit it!!

Exactly where i was! good to see you again! i can see it now a big Whoosh and the ball sailing away into the distance, no one more surprised than Doug when it ended up in net! i always wondered where Beckham got the idea from! can't remember opponents so bow to your superior memory!

I can tell you I remember very few games, but I think it stuck in my mind purely because of that unique experience!

You are dead right, 1963-4, remember it was a bit of a see saw game. The only other thing I remember, is that local a group played on the pitch, either at half time, or before the match. It was in the Beatlemania days, and the club thought it was a good idea. Can’t remember if they were any good, or even if it rained.
