Well I suppose this puts the West Ham rumours to bed Hasn't really featured much in the last couple of years apart from the odd appearance here or there. Could be a decent backup to have as he's usually available a lot more often than THD and on a cheaper contract too I would imagine.

Is THD under contract for next season? Seems we might be a bit overloaded in the left back department. Will it dispel the rumours linking us to the soon to be out of contract Pompey lad?

I like Kelly and think there is plenty of improvement and development to come in his game and still young. Good luck to him.

Happy with this - still learning his trade.

Happy he's signed but surprised we're offering contracts to any players out of contract, until we see how the land lies at the start of next season.

I haven't seen much of him to be honest, but frankly his performance against Bolton at the Mem earlier this season ranks among the worst full back performances I've seen in many years. I wouldn't have been disappointed to see him go, but I sincerely hope that when we get back playing again (who knows when that will be) that he will be a success.

Three left backs in and around the first team?? THD, Leahy and Kelly, with Kelly being third choice? It's a strange one, can only think that one of the other two will go...

Would rather see some of the youngsters pushed through as back up rather than squad players like Kelly and ollie Clarke being given contracts when their 1st team opportunities would, you would think, be extremely limited next season.. Can we afford to carry reserves who are aged in their twenties who are unlikely to see 1st team action, post coronavirus when finances will be an issue?

Not sure you can class Ollie Clarke as a "squad player". This is the captain we are talking about who played in the vast majority of games.

As others have said on here and I am in agreement, I think olly c has reached his ceiling and is a limited footballer. Hopefully we can add in the summer in midfield.

I hope we can add extra quality in the midfield department too, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Ollie offered a new deal.

Personally happy with this, think there's potential in Kelly & fits the profile of a young player with sell on value in the future. Agreed we don't need 3 left backs so would assume one of Leahy & THD will be off, not sure if either or both have contracts for next year though.

I would have thought Kelly is seen as a younger player for the future than a player in his 20's past his peak! Although given how few games BG gave him given how poor Leahy's been under him you do wonder the logic of offering him another contract. I love the OC will only be a squad player talk as if we've got a decent CM lined up to replace him!

According to the post article, both are under contract for next season. Wouldn't be the first time they made a mistake though 😂.

It's hard to believe THD was given a 3 yr contract by DC when he wasn't even fit when he joined us. Although according to his Instagram account he's presently doing "off season work in Dubai" which seems odd if he's still contracted to play for us.

I get the feeling if it wasn't for Covid he'd be gone.
I think I read Sam Frost say previously that Kelly was out of favour & had then signed with a new agency, so a move was very much on the cards.
I guess with Ben coming in and Covid - he probably couldn't take the risk of being out of contract for another year, god knows then he'd get his next pay check if that was the case.

Plenty of players go abroad to do warm weather training and fitness work in the summer and I think it's a good thing if that is what he is doing in preparation to come back for next season in the best possible shape.

Would be nice to go into next season with fully fit THD and Hare. Unfortunately, I fear THD will end up finishing early like Jamie Shore years ago which would be a great shame.
