Sorry to ask what seems a silly question but where is this being built please Hortham Lane, just north of the big M4-M5 interchange.

This is great news. Realistically I suspect that once this first phase of work is complete many people will be underwhelmed with what has been built. But for me it's a footprint for the club to grow from. Hopefully it will ultimately lead to the development of a high quality facility that the club can be proud of. In the meantime simply having our own facilities is a step in the right direction. Well done Wael. Well, if you want to set your sights as low as possible (maybe wise) what's the minimum you can imagine that includes this: "... first-team pitches and training area, gym, medical area, changing facilities, staff offices and communal areas." Three second hand containers and a picnic bench? AF you had better cancel the marble racing today, we’ve all already had enough excitement this morning with this news!

Strange how the club has left it as a wasteland for about 3 years, and now have decided to go forward with the plans during an uncertain financial period.

Sounds promising, just wondering , given our winters, if there will be an all weather pitch incorporated or are they not considered suitable for training?

Sorry Gasincider. Any news on a stadium mate? #neversatisfied. I’ve heard that we might be developing on a parcel of land at Cribbs. Anyone else heard that one? Funding to come from a fund linked to Tony Adams.

The club is delighted to confirm that work will begin next week at The Colony to convert it into the training facility for the Bristol Rovers First team for the start of the 2020/21 season. Contractors have been appointed to start phase one of the project, with an initial installation of first-team pitches and training area, gym, medical area, changing facilities, staff offices and communal areas being concluded this year. MJ Abbott, who have worked with our ground staff to create the award-winning pitch at the Mem will also work on the two pitches at the Colony to ensure that they are of comparable industry-leading quality. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2020/june/training-ground-statement/f**k me I never thought I’d see the day !!

Does this perhaps mean something is happening about the stadium? Previously it was said that investment into the training ground would only take place once something’s been done on the stadium front. Things might of changed since then though because we were at the end of the current lease. I was thinking that. Of course the current training ground in Cribbs is soon to expire which could have forced our hand to start work on the colony but we could also have easily renewed our current deal with Cribbs. So maybe, something could be going on in the background regarding a stadium. I wonder if the fruit market are financially struggling due to the lockdown which may have meant they are up for talks for us to purchase the land.

Great news on the face of it. Hopefully will happen.
I can't help being cynical though - is this just some news to try and get more season ticket sales?

Only Rovers would decide to finally get on with investing in infrastructure in the middle of a full blown recession, ha! I think you may be right in saying that the Fruit Market businesses might be more up for doing a deal, in the current circumstances I'd be tempted to take a good chunk of money and sell up too, suppose it also depends on whether our future investors are still up for it as well.

IIRC Red Maids school bought the land we train on and this was the last year we could train there so we had to find an alternative...which had all gone quiet, because of GC, BG and then CV. All in all I'm sceptical about what this means, there are more questions than answers until we are categorically told that this is a gift from Wael/DS.

This news has made my day , really needed some positive news. Thanks to all concerned, for so long many have said how important it was to the future of our great club to own its own training complex. Hopefully this is a huge step in the right direction. UTG !!!

It would be quite extreme to go to those sort of measures for a bit of a season ticket sale boost. Either way , if it does boost sales it’s a win , win situation.
