He will be wanted by every club in the division, I don't think we will be able to get him but we should move Heaven and Earth and try. The guy is quick has a superb footballing brain and can score goals. Put him and JCH in the same side and we will be doing our business at the top end of the division. Were Heaven and Earth on the retained list?

This is all a bit of a daft argument because I doubt he would come back if we went in with the best offer.
Anyway, Oxford will get him.
That all said, when will football fans ever get to grips with the concept that to players, it’s a job and there is no sentimental loyalty...unless it’s a home town boyhood club, but even then they move to the best option for their career.

Slightly different though the likes of Bodin & Locks leaving compared to how the Snake left.

Let’s Move On he was offered double the salary for doing the job he loves it didn’t work out the way he hoped and we all know why now The sh**e didn’t want him they just didn’t want us to have him as we may well have been challenging for the top six had he stayed at the GAS🐍🐍

Are there any players in the game today who you know would never leave their club no matter what contract was offered? The last in that breed of player was probably Paul Scholes or Gary Neville. Would they have stayed if Man U were mid table or relegation strugglers? Unless either were willing to relocate their families abroad they couldn’t have really furthered their careers in England.
