Is no new taxes the same as no additional taxes, or is that semantics?

Is no new taxes the same as no additional taxes, or is that semantics? No new taxes. Just increase the existing ones. The ones that effect poor people, obviously. Lower the ones for the rich.

It's not as if the rich need all the money and would actually flee the country if they had to pay 5% more in tax. They have plenty. Loads. I think it's all about the wealthy in the Tory party wanting to protect themselves, not the country, and also ensuring the gazzillionaires continue to fund the party in return for gongs, and don't huff off in a sulk if they are down to their last £50m.

Energy prices frozen ? Truss to make big announcement 📣 Didn't she say something about the end of the week? Maybe it's market sensitive (the cynic in me wonders if this is giving certain people time to move assets before it's announced?!?)

Fraser Nelson's figures aren't quite right but it's illustrative nonetheless.
But why are costs pegged to gas rather than an overall energy mix?

Her speech referred to a victory in 2024, presumably ruling out an election next year which was touted in the weekend's papers. One headline even suggested a leadership challenge before the end of the year.
The other thing is her margin of victory was closer than expected, she will need to take that on board when it comes to Cabinet appointments. Be interesting to see who she appoints, will it be loyalists or from across the party?
Edit: current rumours have JRM at Business, Wallace staying at Defence, Kwarteng becoming Chancellor, Cleverly going to the Foreign Office, Patel losing the Home Office brief.

What will happen to Patel I wonder . Will she be packed off to Rwanda ? 🤔

No way she will call a GE ! She would be mad to, practically handing power to the looney left.
She has 18 months to turn things around
