Her speech referred to a victory in 2024, presumably ruling out an election next year which was touted in the weekend's papers. One headline even suggested a leadership challenge before the end of the year. The other thing is her margin of victory was closer than expected, she will need to take that on board when it comes to Cabinet appointments. Be interesting to see who she appoints, will it be loyalists or from across the party? Edit: current rumours have JRM at Business, Wallace staying at Defence, Kwarteng becoming Chancellor, Cleverly going to the Foreign Office, Patel losing the Home Office brief. No way she will call a GE ! She would be mad to, practically handing power to the looney left.
She has 18 months to turn things around
I would agree it's too risky to go yet, just commenting on the press article. I wouldn't describe Labour as either looney or left anymore.

I have it on very good authority that the next Home Secretary will be Suella Braverman, the current attorney general. I have my contacts. 🤫

Cut in VAT on electricity from 13% to 6% being touted. VAT isn't 13% on anything in this country. The current domestic rate is 5%, commercial rate is the standard rate of VAT - 20%

Politics in this country has become too American. In that elections are popularity contests and that there’s a fierce level of polarisation between political parties. With the media trying to make that rift even bigger. I wish people would read manifestos, listen to what their local MP has to say and make informed decisions for themselves.
