Pi*s taking and joking aside, I think we would be hugely diminished as a nation if we break up. Events from 2016 have been bad enough. I think the chances of Scotland leaving the union are severely diminished with Labour doing so well in the polls at the moment . In all likelihood we’re looking at a Labour gov within the next two yrs and a vote for Scotland leaving is as much anti Tory as it is pro independence. Not so sure having lived there for 13 years it was patently obvious that there was a significant anti English sentiment and being Labour never was a factor.

Agreed but it's akin to having a partner who doesn't want to stay in a relationship and moans all the time!! So easily resolved. Devolution of income raising authority and responsibility.

Weather is unnaturally hot over 26c on the Friday/Saturday. COVID obviously screwed the last couple y years, now we will back to 6 weeks a year, tbh we would probably spend more but the in-laws moved back from SA 2yrs ago so they need a lot of support and our 22 yr old has complex additional needs so it all takes a bit of organising

"The government's mini-budget has left it facing such a large black hole in the public finances that the most credible way of filling it is severe spending cuts similar to the kinds imposed during the austerity years a decade ago, according to an authoritative new report. The "Green Budget", from the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), together with investment bank Citi, warns that the chancellor would have to cut spending or raise taxes by £62bn if he is to stabilise or reduce the national debt, as he has repeatedly promised in recent weeks. That shortfall is a direct consequence of measures announced since the Truss government took office, including its reversal of various tax increases such as corporation tax and National Insurance, and its Energy Price Guarantee. There is a chance that hole is filled by economic growth, but the IFS said such an outcome would depend on luck more than judgement." news.sky.com/story/chancellor-faces-finding-60bn-of-spending-cuts-to-fund-mini-budget-ifs-warns-12717666

Not long to wait until another u-turn on the tax cuts . Good news though as it speeds up the demise of Truss & Kwarteng and this shambolic gov .

North Somerset not on that list 😭 He has to be targeted surely? Bloody hope so . Although I think it’s more likely to go LibDem than Labour. If Labour do campaign here and the LibDem’s campaign hard as well we’ll let in the Tories yet again . One or the other and it’s game on I think.

It has been Liberal or Tory here for as long as I can remember, other than Dan Norris a few years back when Blair swept to power. I may be wrong of course because I am only going from memory.

I think an early General Election would be good for the Conservative Party. A chance to purge the lunatics quicker, before they do more damage. Hopefully they take the opportunity to reclaim a more sensible centre right position with some better candidates going forward. Whatever your political leanings, having a raving looney right wing Tory Party is bad for the country, just as Corbyn and Foot Labour Party would have been in years gone by. Centre left/centre right politics seems like such a long time ago now. Even the war criminal Blair and pig-shagging, brexit idiot Cameron seem like amazing PMs compared to Johnson and Truss.
