On the same day as they give 100s of millions to rugby union and horse racing and 12 million to rugby league and claim there is no north south divide. I'm missing your point here there is Rugby Union and Horse racing up North? And in comparison to 100 billion it's peanuts

As much as I like rugby union myself there seems to be some justification to that claim imo.

Dont think so RU is played all over the UK and has a much bigger grassroots base than League which is more or less centric to areas in the North West and East.

Hot air again when this gov are opening new coal mines and support fracking. People do genuinely fall for the bs tho don't they. Flood defences and road infrastructure investment are reactionary policy aren't they, typical really.

True, but even taking that into account it seems something of a whopping disparity in the amounts to my mind. Also the government have consistently shown their favouritism for the south east so it’s not like this is completely out of character for them. Personally I don’t see that they have done much at all for the people who voted for them up north. If anything this “northern powerhouse” of Tory back benchers seem to be rebelling against over arching party direction to get a better deal for those in the north.

It's early days in the life of this Parliament so I will suspend judgement for a while, have to say that successive governments of all colours have done less for all areas outside the SE,look at Devon and Cornwall

Matt Hancock talking about the peculiarity of British workers going in to work when ill and spreading germs, wondering why we do it.
This is the problem with Tory rulers- one the hand they have created the culture of presenteeism where you have to be seen at work at all costs otherwise you can lose your job, then on the other hand are so out of touch with working conditions for the average punter that they wonder why they are going into work when unwell. (He was one of the authors of that book that characterised the British worker as feckless and lazy, it should be noted)
I broadly welcome the sentiment and the boldness of trying to continue a coronavirus-esque testing capacity for other illnesses- that sounds like a positive legacy and embracing of change that coronavirus has brought but it’s hard not to conclude this is all pie in the sky and as soon as we have left the EU he and his mates are going to crackdown on worker’s rights to the point where going in to work with leukaemia is going to be the least of your problems.

More hatefulness from the conservative types?
They pour it out online, then will claim to be cancelled.

I don't, but Blueridge's outburst is inexplicable and out of character (in my opinion).
