In 2017:
Dwane Sports Group, owners of Bristol Rovers FC, are delighted to announce their acquisition of a 28-acre site in Almondsbury which Dwane will develop to accommodate the Club’s Academy and to satisfy the training requirements of the full-time professional players, as well as providing medical treatment facilities.
It is hoped that Academy 2 status will be obtained, enabling the Club to develop and prosper a new generation of young aspiring professional players. Hani Al-Qadi, Chairman of the Dwane Sports Group said: "This is an exciting new development that, again, illustrates our ambition to build constructively for the long-term future of the Club and its supporters."

Passed it today. Farmhouse and other building just a large pile of ground up rubble, ready I assume to be utilised elsewhere. A lot more ground has now been cleared of scrub, notably on the far side from the gate. Drainage pipes being laid on the area just inside the gate (car park?). Rovers groundstaff mowing the existing grass which is growing nicely in the sun. Still using generators on site so utilities not connected yet. Onwards and upwards.

WTF is "is the very short term"? Its roughly a quarter of the amount of time that would be reasonable to assume is the long term. Give or take.

I could be wrong, but I though we weren't getting a Category 2 Academy status anymore?

Aye that clip was from 2017 so plans may well have changed, but thats all i could find on the tinternet... do you have an updated plan to hand pal? No, but was talking to someone fairly well informed recently who was under the impression we had downscaled the plans and wouldn't be getting a Category 2 status. Considering the details released are fairly scarce it's hard to know for sure.

WTF is "is the very short term"? That within his full quote ‘we will be there in the short term’ means that we will be using it only for a short period of time rather than in a short period of time doesn’t it? Should we be worried about that or is it just that Garner is now struggling with basic English as well as playing at football manager?

Not sure I agree - we will be there in the short term means we will be using it very very soon whereas if he’d said we’d be there for the short term - that means we won’t be using it for very long. I do have to say that some of the microscopic analysis of the words Ben said and the attempt at trying to read stuff into it is going a bit far. If you take the context of what he said, basically it was that the ground is very very close to being ready for us to start using, it’s on track and we will be using it in the very near future. He didn’t want to give out a date because if he did and we weren’t there on that date - even if it’s one day out, many of our fickle fans would use it as yet another stick to beat him and the club with. Also I’m guessing they don’t want to give a date as they’d like to train in peace without large groups of our fan base rocking up on the opening day. I’m sure that when things calm down and the ground is more than just pitches, they’ll have some sort of open day for the fans?
