Passed it just now. A couple of brickies working on the clubhouse walls - it's now above head height. Mini digger doing something at the back of it - drains maybe. No other activities on site. I guess sodden conditions stop this.

I appreciate Fleetwood has been held up as the benchmark in the past, but does anyone know what a typical League 1 training ground looks like?
Just wondering what advantages it gives when looking at recruitment.
By next pre season we are looking at 2 and a half pitches (possibly another 2 added in the short term), gym and clubhouse. Quality looks good, mind.

Our division has premier league facilities at Sunderland at one end and rented playing fields in Accrington at the other. Fleetwood’s is an excellent example of combining publicly accessible facilities, whereas Burton are fortunate enough to be able to rent time at the nearby England set up at St George’s. Certainly the standard of the pitches at The Quarters would put us towards the top of any comparison of training playing surfaces. The better facilities also have a 3G pitch (eg Crewe) which is rumoured to be part of a phase 2 at Almondsbury.

Thanks, it seems the pitches could be a pull as will the fact we own it and not subject to third parties. It is also work in progress and I'd have thought incremental additions will be fairly quick to add meaning a player can literally see improvements even for a short spell here (unlike a stadium which would be years away and unlikely to be used by most potential players).

Quality looks good, mind. I would ignore the league bit , better to compare to clubs who have the same capacity stadium . As that's comparable infrastructure. Walsall colchester grimsby southend exeter crewe Oxford gillingham shrewsbury lincoln rochdale stockport Chesterfield wycombe Luton rotherham Oldham bournemouth. To progress rovers need to have one of the best training grounds compared to these clubs. Until the stadium grows in size.

I have never been there, can you see it from the M5 and if so what part? Dead easy to find. Get off the M5 at the A38 junction. Head North towards Thornbury, pass the hotel/pub on the right. At the first set of lights turn right into Hortham Lane. Go down here a few hundred yards and take a left turn (this is still Hortham Lane.) You will see the Jehovah witness church on the left. When the houses end the traning ground entrance is on you right. Easy enough to do a uturn and stop for a good look.

Clubhouse walls now 10/12 feet high. Minidigger working on something else on beyond the clubhouse. Several rolls of plastic film lying on the car park, presumably underlay when it is paved. Several members of coaching staff turned up before 9 o'clock - good to see them getting on with it.

Is this a news scoop? First inside view of the new gym at The Quarters Certainly appears to be. Functional might be the politest description of some of the internal finish.

AlmondsburyGas’ latest tweet. Walls up to full height at the front.
At this rate it looks like the roof will go on in February, then fitting out in March and April.

I doubt there's any rush as we probably won't be able to start using it until next season in any event.

Perhaps not a penalty taker then, if he'll get the ball over the stands....! 😋
