Just as it was completely obvious, despite his claims, that Garner had absolutely nothing to do with the training ground, it's equally obvious that, having been here 8 weeks, this is nothing to do with Joey Barton. And your own question on another thread didn't need answering. It didn't even need asking. Wael said he was committed to the club financially in his statement weeks ago. So who are these "coaches" the club have got feedback from then, given that until JB arrived we were pressing on with a the T shaped clubhouse. I know you think JB's a scouse pr1ck but this has all the hallmarks of him having some influence over the new plans. Almondsbury Gas reported a conversation with Shaun Roberts (the Operations Manager), who said that the clubhouse could be extended on both sides. This was on February 15th, so the review must have been some time before that and certainly comfortably pre-Barton.

Just because something's changed since Joey arrived it doesn't follow that you can automatically attribute it to him. I mean, we weren't in the relegation zone when he arrived, and now we are, but that doesn't mean Joey made it happen. Hang on a minute though....

Planning permission was granted years ago for the T-shape so it makes perfect sense to build it then apply for permission to fill in the sides. ...and a really good sign that no sooner is the original build completed then we submit a planning application to expand.

I think that's pretty standard stuff in planning. Get the original plans over the line and then submit something better as it's being built.

I agree, but it would be very Rovers to balls up at this stage. Many were complaining that the original Rugby changing block / bar set up was not up to scratch and we've attempted to address that at the earliest opportunity.

I can't say the architecture is in my taste. I'd prefer something a bit more modern or futuristic; something original and uplifting.

As long as it’s functional and does what’s required. Aesthetically I can understand it from a new stadium point of view but this is a training ground hardly anyone on here will ever go to or even see.

On the whole, I agree, and who's to say that in time such a new facility could be added, it's supposed to be a 10 year project from what others closer than me have suggested. Not sure if it was a factor but sometimes planning is easier if the building is 'in keeping' with its surrounding area, maybe we chose that deliberately to pass planning.

I'd probably agree that many Premier League training facilities are all glass and striking lines now, but I don't think Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Bennett, Saunders or Moran worried much about the architectural merit of their boot room.

We did, the planning docs say they considered a two story building but went for the single story building given where it was located, I assume the same applies to the brick work etc. I assume changing the design at this late stage will cost Weal a few more £'s, as I would have thought most of the I in the T shape will have to be demolished including the roof, unless they now become internal walls?

Have just driven past and looks like the main pitch is being taken up. Assume they must be starting pre-season work early.

The staff will have made an annual plan of works they wish and need to do on the pitches to ensure they are healthy and good surfaces to use. It might seem soon for maintenance, but the alternative is leaving it to next summer and thats to long.

If so, I guess it's not too soon but it seems another big expense to replace the playing surface every season. Particularly when it seems to have had zero effect on our ability to play football improving.
