8 and more pitches were proposed about 3 or 4 years ago to include the academy. That was the power point presentation given at the time to parents and players.
Tbf the site was never going to be big enough to house the u7s to the first team, and the gas girls.
I’m not sure if the plans still include female changing rooms. But that will give a clue as to the direction that the quarters are going in.
The first team only and gas girls makes sense given how big the plot is.

Just to show that there's been little news on the training ground front recently, I had to dredge this up from page 15. The club's architects Kendall Kingscott, have produced slightly amended plans for the Quarters. As far as I can tell, the differences are; caretaker's house omitted artificial pitch scheduled for 2024/25 fences, paths, landscaping, clubhouse extension scheduled for 2023.

Still unrecognisable from the ground I use to play on (for Coalpit Heath) between 2010 & 2014.
One very small & rather grim hut for a changing room at the end of a gravel car park where the current building stands. The pitches were located where the current ones are, but more like an allotment than any surface you'd knock a ball about. That was literally it. Other than hosting the summer tournaments for our youth teams, that whole site went begging between August & June.
We always did wonder why so much land was left to waste and would make an ideal ground or training location for someone. Loved it when my beloved Rovers made the purchase & having seen what it’s become.
Here’s to further improvements to come!

The planning application for the landscaping, artificial pitch etc. will have to go before a planning committee. This is because four objections have been received (plus two letters of support). Judging from the planning officer's report, which recommends granting the application, the objections are based on misunderstanding the application or are not relevant.
There is no date for the committee meeting yet, but the next two scheduled meetings are in July and August.

Excellent news, looks like the councillors decided they didn’t need to look at it in committee.

Nothing onerous in the planning conditions thankfully.

Excellent news, looks like the councillors decided they didn’t need to look at it in committee. With what has been achieved at the Quarters so far, I would imagine the council officers must be delighted in what the club has done with the site and are fully confident in the future plans being proposed. As regards the neighbours, a bloody great motorway on one side and now a large Wimbledon standard grass area and single story building instead of the tin huts and mainly rough ground and park pitches they previously looked out on.

Have been a couple of times and had one guided tour of the place. Its a great base for us with scope for further development as the years go by. It was mentioned that their are possibilites of putting some community medical facilities on the site which the club will also have use and benefit from as well as the potential for building a new first team complex with the existing one becoming the base for the U23s downwards. It really is the best thing that has happened to us in years.

It really is the best thing that has happened to us in years. That's just it, I've seen posts referring to the design of the current buildings or that we should rent until it's fully built, but in reality it's a facility we can grow with over time. The idea of building a different main building in the future and keeping the current one for other uses is just one option which shows its flexibility. It's a work in progress and one we should be pleased with. I suspect, although don't know, that it gives us an advantage over how we used to do this.

There is a planning application (P22/03558/ADV), for a double sided LED advertising screen alongside the M5 at The Quarters. I would be surprised if this one makes it through.
