The contractors on site are always happy to answer questions when asked providing you can attract their attention from the main gate.Whilst MJAbbot are responsible for the grass pitches only however two of their employees have pointed out where the artificial pitch is being laid If this is correct ? Are we getting aG4 pitch as well?I thought the initial plan was for 2 grass pitches and a goal keeper area only Would be a bit strange to build a new training ground without an artificial pitch. I guess if travellers leave loads of rubbish and their own sh**e on an artificial pitch it will be easier to clear up?

Shaun Roberts only referred to 2 full scale (Mem replica) pitches plus a goalie training pitch in his YouTube video on the OS, although perhaps Wael's found another £500K stuck down the side of his sofa since that interview!

What next? Posing as binmen at the mem to rifle through the rubbish?

They need to check where the contractors are putting the Corridors of Power.

My assumption would be that the efforts are going into the grass pitches at the moment, rolling out an artificial pitch is a lot quicker once the ground work has been prepped speaking from experience with Hillside Gardens.

Are they just laid on a hardcore base with a blinding chewy? With drainage of course.

Are they just laid on a hardcore base with a blinding chewy? With drainage of course. Pretty much, once the footwork is done it's a pretty easy job. Obviously the importance is in ensuring we have grass pitches ready, my assumption is any artificial pitches would be done in phase 2 over the winter...

It’s good that the training pitch is going to be of the same quality as the Mem. But is it not a bit different training on the surface 20 hours a week compared to playing 90 minutes on it every 1 or 2 weeks? Surely it will take a lot more maintenance.
(Sorry to bring a negative point to what is a very positive move, just a thought that crossed my mind).

Whilst I accept what Gasincider has said regarding the fact that topsoil is no longer used for football pitches, I do wonder where the grass will get its nutrients, and how sand can hols everything together when there are blokes wearing studs and running all over the surface and kicking lumps out of it.

It's in the countryside. How will they keep foxes off?

Given we're using experts in the field then you'd assume they'd given the club advice on what was the best surface and how to maintain the the pitches?
For a pleasant change at Rovers we seem to have got professionals doing a professional job.
