Very happy with this signing but........ Where does this leave Rollin? Pretty pointless giving him another year as it doesn't seem he will get a look-in. I doubt he will extend his contract if he doesn't, as he needs to be playing games for us We need reserve CB's plus we look like playing Sat-Tues-Sat all season so plenty of games coming up, who knows he may grab his chance and keep one of the other 3 CB's out of the side.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Wael thinking of going to Gillingham before deciding on the gas and now we’ve poached arguably their best player. They’ve got to be gutted.

Feck me! What’s going on? That’s the one I didn’t think we would get! Up yours fatty Evans 😂. Welcome to the Gas Mad Max, welcome to the pleasure dome. 👍 What appears to be going on is that Wael has loosened the purse strings. To be able to attract mature players from Sunderland and Gillingham, as well as offering a contract which, at the moment, is better than a big club like Hearts can manage, is evidence of this. The assumption is that he will also offer JCH an improved deal and will support the recruitment of other quality players. Putting 2+2 together, there must be something imminent on the stadium front. That’s the only explanation for all this good news!

True. Not sure where it leaves Harries as well. Take it we will be playing 3 at the back. Otherwise we will have 3 left out each week, 4 once Davies returns. Not sure on the contract lengths. Suppose we want 2 player's for every position.

Delighted with this one!!! Get JCH some help with similar quality at the other end, and we could be in for a great season. How typically Rovers! The possibility of a great 1989-1990 type season and we will probably be excluded from watching in the flesh, especially away games. Bollox!

Quality signing. Welcome to the Gas Max and good luck! That Adebayo Akinfenwa stat cannot be right! Never seen him leave the ground ffs. He doesn’t need to leave the ground. He is so huge he generates his own gravity field which in turn inevitably draws the ball tohis head.

I doubt he will extend his contract if he doesn't, as he needs to be playing games for us I think he will go out on loan. Davies must be under threat as well if he overcomes his knee problems. If we play a back four then Alfie, Ehmer, Baldwin and Harries are enough. I hope our signings at the other end of the pitch are just as exciting as those we’ve seen arrive this past week. UTG.

One fan warned about getting ahead of ourselves, pride before etc which I think is fair enough. The rest, without exception, were sanguine about Max leaving, thanked him for his service and admitted they probably can’t compete with us on a contract basis. Seems like they have a decent, down to earth fanbase who accept their lot and don’t expect the earth.

Oh my massive thing that’s impressing me is not only the fact that the signings we’ve made seem of a high pedigree but we are getting in ahead of those around us and getting our business done early. Can only be a positive, massive well done to all those involved who are being proactive and assembling the squad we want not waiting or delaying.

Welcome Max, it must be great working for Rovers at moment knowing about all this good news and drip feeding fans there regular dose of pick me up tonic! and it is a tonic in these very uncertain times. Given the quality of recent signings it is a great credit to the management coaches and owners that there reputations go before them ,enabling them to sell the club and there vision for it, thus getting the deals over the line. I suspect if we had a 'swingometer' on here which reflected fans optimism it would have swung from doom and gloom to full of optimism and excitement very significantly this last couple of months! Must be great feeling about the club at moment and long may it continue, can't wait for the next dose of good news! Now Wael about this yer new stadium! remember Gas eds , feet firmly on the ground, triumph and disaster and all that! , up the Rovers!

I'm reminded of that summer of Buckle transfers when there was that comment of us being the Barcelona of League Two. Didn't work out then, so we'll see how it plays out this time. Definitely a pleasing start to the window though so far and now Garner's got a job on his hands to get the squad gelling ready for the start of the season considering the new system and personnel.

From reading Sam Frost's Q&A yesterday there still seems no firm progress on the FM site, I can't really see Wael spending money now in the hope that he eventually agrees a deal with the developers.

I think it may go even deeper than Wael being held back by Hani, although he undoubtedly was. It is quite obvious that we are offering the sort of money and contract length that would have been impossible in the past. 3 quality signings in the last few days when in the past the club spoke big about what and who we were after then nothing until some seemingly panic buys at the end of the window. Theres no doubt Wael has more money to spend, but I can’t help wondering if he’s being helped out on the quiet by future or as yet unannounced business partners, interested in a long term investment in the club and suppliers of a new stadium in a certain city centre location. Just a thought.

Good example to bear in mind, although Buckle (as bad a manager as he turned out) did bring some players who proved more than decent, such as M.Smith, L.Brown, Carayol and Woodards. Some train wreck signings too mind!!
