So therefore we are lucky to have a goalkeeper who could easily play at a higher level IMO. No because he is being paid accordingly so neither of us are lucky or unlucky as such like Mehew said. OK then we are fortunate ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Thats a bit pedantic mate, quite clear i just meant he is a good player so its a good job we have him. I didn't mean some kind of witchcraft and wizzardry was responsible. Not pedantic, he's spont on. Mildenhall is near his hometown, gets paid well and wouldn't be playing at a much higher level even if he wanted to. It was pedantic as he took my post literally when all i was clearly implying is that he is a good player. Ps whats with your doom and gloom lately ? You always hammered me for negativity

We are doing better than I expected but playing worse. I can just see us being in real danger of dropping out of the playoffs.

GGMI, you say Mildenhall and Brown are at this level for a reason. You're right, the reason is we got relegated. They decided to stay with us rather than move on, which is to their credit. Both players could have moved to a league club over the summer.

There may be another reason Brown and Mildy 'cant be critcised' and that's because they are actually good players. Neither have ever let us down, are rarely injured and always give their all. Both players score consistently well in our match rating threads when others around them are up and down like a whores drawers. If we had a Brown or Mildy in every position on the pitch we'd pish this division. I get that forums are for debate and such but weve a lot bigger issues in the first 11 than Brown and Mildy which is why I can't understand the need for this thread. Mountains and molehills? Yeah, couldn't agree more. The reason Mildy and Brown are still at this club is that they wanted to stay and play for us. They could have got similar contracts in League 2, no problem, afaict. It seems a bit pointless to have this debate when *every* other position on the field is more debatable.

Every team has a bad patch during the season and also a purple patch. We have had loads of bad patches in the last few years and have been storing our purple patches up until it matters . They will come soon When it comes we will walk this league .

I genuinely believe Lee Brown didn't get a much better offer. He is overrated.

Mildenhall is a good keeper for this level but is not as good as the Mildenhall we had on loan.

i think mildenhall and brown are top players at this level, the wages issue is a separate one but dosnt concern there ability,,,if we dont go up the club will have big decisions to make about our top earners but then again if we sign easter on a permanent deal he will be our highest paid player without a doubt i imagine

The only thing that is really necessary for a player playing for BRFC this season is- Is he good enough to help Bristol Rovers win the Conference. I think in the case of both Lee Brown and Steve Mildenhall the answer is yes and to say either is average in this league is ridiculous. Torquay;for instance; would "cut their fingers off" for either Mildenhall or Brown- they wouldn't be able to afford them mind!! Sometimes;often I think; we forget where we are and how far we have dropped and are happier to find players to criticise than players to praise. By this I mean topics like this which HIGHLIGHT a player.

Steve Mildenhall that was on loan for us would be an excellent keeper for this league. The Steve Mildenhall since is a good keeper for this league. Lee Brown however is very overrated in my opinion. And your post proves to me that certain players for some reason like him aren't allowed to be criticised. He isn't very quick, his crossing/set pieces aren't very good, he is solid enough defensively and seems to have the right attitude but is nothing special.

We'll have to agree to disagree GGMI - personally I think Lee Brown is one of the best left backs in the division - certainly the top 5. He plays for England for Christ's sake.

They are both far from our best players though.
