We'll have to agree to disagree GGMI - personally I think Lee Brown is one of the best left backs in the division - certainly the top 5. He plays for England for Christ's sake.So does Parkes. They are both far from our best players though. It was tongue in cheek

Being accused of something I haven't said or done. Please point to me where I have said they are not very good. I said I think Mildenhall is good and Brown is average.

Very average for this league was what you said but since you don't look at opposition players how can you judge them against players in this league? You have to compare apples with apples.

Indeed - it's a bit like being sat on deal or no deal with £1,000 in your box and only a few boxes remaining; but only you have absolutely no idea what the remaining boxes contain. But yet you're saying "I know my box is average". Without having any knowledge of what is left in the remaining boxes you cannot possibly state that your box is average.
P.S. You ended up swapping your box and the one you ended up with contained 5p. Sorry.

Brown has been picked to play for England C has this league is made up of virtually all English players then somebody thinks he's the best LB in the Conference? Although it seems odd saying A or B players are not very good if you never actually watch any Conference games!!

The only thing that is really necessary for a player playing for BRFC this season is- Is he good enough to help Bristol Rovers win the Conference. I think in the case of both Lee Brown and Steve Mildenhall the answer is yes and to say either is average in this league is ridiculous. Torquay;for instance; would "cut their fingers off" for either Mildenhall or Brown- they wouldn't be able to afford them mind!! Sometimes;often I think; we forget where we are and how far we have dropped and are happier to find players to criticise than players to praise. By this I mean topics like this which HIGHLIGHT a player. No, I won't be painted as a negative poster. I am far from a negative poster and regularly highlight players as I see appropiate. Steve Mildenhall that was on loan for us would be an excellent keeper for this league. The Steve Mildenhall since is a good keeper for this league. Lee Brown however is very overrated in my opinion. And your post proves to me that certain players for some reason like him aren't allowed to be criticised. He isn't very quick, his crossing/set pieces aren't very good, he is solid enough defensively and seems to have the right attitude but is nothing special. i think some people still think were in league one to be honest because a conference defender thats very quick, distributes the ball brilliantly and defends well simply dosnt exist, our defenders do there primary role very well mainly but arnt lightning quick and dont always pass the ball well,a bit like barnets defence really though ive only seen 1 barnet match .......

However, I only care about our players and don't really study the opposition. Unless someone puts in a 9/10 out of 10 performance then I will probably take very little notice of them, especially a lb.

I compare Brown to other players in our team and he is an average player in our team.

Brown is a better fullback than Lockyer, very rarely have i seen a winger get the better of him, even in league Two. When Martin was playing well, him and Brown were very effective down the left, would like to see him get used to playing with LDV if he stays long enough

I think we should appreciate the ability and efforts of both Mildy and Browner , they are stand-out players in this years Conference, and if we let them go or lost them i don't think we could replace them in ability let alone afford replacements who were better.

I have thought for some time that Mildy is overrated. As someone has said, he's a decent shot stopper, but his distribution is a joke , and when he punches the ball out he always punches it towards the D which as in the game with Forest Green, just means someone can whack a shot straight back. Knock it wide man. And as for saying that the people at fault are those not in position to receive his clearances, what a joke that is. That's like saying every time we give the ball to the opposition it's because OUR player should have been where there's was. What garbage. You play the game that is, not the one that should be. Also, Mildy said if we got rid of the goalkeeping coach he would leave. That's another good reason to move him on. We can't afford a goalkeeping coach. Puddly has come of age at this level, his only shortcoming quite literally is his stature. But other than Barnet away, he has done all required of him. The saving on two salaries could mean we could afford Tubbs and Easter. What is the point of this thread??? Is it to pick a fight and/or run down Steve Mildenhall and de-stablise the relationship between players and fans? and/or to try and get Mildy to leave? Mildy is an excellent servant to the team and club. Nobody is perfect and we can all improve and "distribution" might be an area of improvement for Steve ... perhaps leave it at that? Never said it was anyones fault, to receive the ball from a keeper you must be in a position to receive it with space, or run onto it with space, that's not garbage that's basic football
