A few dates for everyone’s diaries. As the title says, the EFL have confirmed that fixtures are to be released on the 21st of this month at 9:00am with the league cup 1st round taking place on September 5th and the first league fixture happening on September 12th.
Rovers could potentially be in competitive action as early as August 29th if they draw a championship team in the league cup first round so that the fixture doesn’t coincide with the international break on the weekend of September 5th.

I'm confused..
I thought I read online that we were away to Crewe on the first game of the season? but I looked on here and couldn't find anything about it or the other fixtures..
This is such an odd year.

By which time last year we had played 8 league games and 2 League Cup games. Not going to be many mid-weeks without a game esp when you put in the FA Cup and League Trophy fixtures from October on. But it’s just been reported that there will be no FA Cup replays this coming season. With so many mid-week games and less training time I guess teams and training regimes will need to be very well organised. Tuesday’s taken up with a mid-week game, Wednesday recovery (?), training Thursday and Friday. I wonder if with our new training facility up and running by October/November whether on some days we will see double sessions which would be easier to organise in our own comfortable surroundings. Come at the right time I’d say! UTG!

They’ve announced the dates of the fixtures. League Cup starts on September 5th, EFL Trophy September 8/9 and first league fixtures on September 12th. While I understand the need to get the season started it seems that to fill the first 8 days with 3 fixtures is going to create potential issues if one or two players test positive for Covid. The impact could easily be a whole load of cancellations almost immediately.

No doubt we will be away to A.N OTHER! though with covid and no crowds don't suppose it matters, in fact away sides seem to do much better under current regulations!

Even the date of our first game is still confusing, it could be 5 Sept or 29 August depending on who we draw in the cup!

You may be right regards the Prem , which i don't take to much notice of, as far as championship the stats were 43 home wins , 43 away, and 26 draws, which i would imagine are much better stats for away teams than is normal ? NB before some stat wiz kid proves me wrong figures may not be perfect, but you get the idea!!

This is a nostalgic turn of events as my first ever Gas game was at home in the league cup on a Saturday before the season started!
Eastville.
I think we should continue in future instead of League Cup evening matches, it may add more in attendance (if things ever get back to normal!?)?

Why on earth is the football league trophy going ahead this season? It would make perfect sense to knock it on it’s head for this year to decongest the calendar a bit.

Makes sense to me as some of us were putting social distance restrictions in under Harvey reign anyways! Oh btw the priority isn't fixture congestion, it's wishes of bigger richer clubs saturating a competition for their own selfish gain.... remember?

I guess EFL clubs can't afford to turn down the £'s playing in the trophy will bring in? Prize money available Group Stage: £10k for a win and £5k for a draw Round Two: £20k for a win Round Three: £40k for a win Quarter Final: £50k for a win Runner-up: £50k Winner: £100k
