I've said this before.
Ben Garner will go down as one of our best ever managers in our history if his words are not just bullshit and he can get his players to buy into his style of play.Or he will go down as one of our worst managers in our history, there will be no in between.
He talks a great game but thus far has proven nothing apart from talking that great game.
We will know where we stand with BG by the 12th game or so.We will either see progress and what he is doing, or he will be looking for another job.

Agreed, he does certainly have to start proving that his words can be put into action, but according to many on here, he'll be out after 3 games if we don't get some points against some of the best teams in this division.

I think Wael will keep him regardless of how we do. Meanwhile I expect Copell to appear at games now and then

He won't be out after 3 games (even if fans want it). I'm not expecting much from the opening 3 games - 1 or 2 points (and concede it's certainly possible we will have 0). But even if that's the case, as long as we actually perform well in the those 3 games I'd be happy to effectively ignore them. If we get dicked 6-0 in each of them and play like a non-league side then that would obviously be very different.

He 'likes technique more than the physical side' this is what I have concerns about as I'm not sure this is being realistic.

Well, 3 is a bit of an exaggeration but on the flip side what would his win/loss ratio as a manager look like if we fail to win any of those 3 games? pretty ugly viewing I should think. If he does get the sack early (and my guess is he is here for the season come what may) it really won’t be based on this season and will have a lot to do with the fact that he never seemed to be adapting to the job during his time last season.

I think Wael will keep him regardless of how we do. Meanwhile I expect Copell to appear at games now and then Coppell has been out of top level management for a decade, the game will have moved on immeasurably since then. Given how things turned out with a fellow dinosaur like McGhee you would like to think the club would try and fix Garner up with a more dynamic mentor than Coppell.

He 'likes technique more than the physical side' this is what I have concerns about as I'm not sure this is being realistic. Coventry City dominated this league last season & they did not have a single crunching tackle in them. Technically brilliant & quality on the ball from back to front.

I presume they had someone to win the ball or did they all wait for a misplaced pass?

I presume they had someone to win the ball or did they all wait for a misplaced pass? Of course you need to win the ball back, but you don't necessarily have to be that "Physical". Barcelona had a team full of players under 6ft, arguably the best club side ever, certainly in my lifetime. Coventry were like that in our division last year, pressing and wining the ball back, doesn't mean you have to be overly physical.

thanks for posting ,really interesting read, Ben is obviously passionate about the way the game should be played and has my full support but, it does concern me a little that he see's no place for at least one 'ball' winner /spoiler in his team aka Ogogo, there we are, he will stand or fall by his own methods, sincerely hope its the former!
