You really could not make this sh**e up .... After the dismal performance Saturday the Manager called for an improved performance ... certainly needed as a confidence boost if nothing else. He then proceeds to name players that shouldn't even have had contracts renewed let alone be in a match day squad ... Yes I mean Kelly who is Crap!! To compound things he then decides to play people out of position in a game of " Lets pretend this scenario might happen" ... We were RUBBISH tonight and probably did not even deserve penalties against L2 opposition ... that said somehow we got there . Chance to redeem things ever so slightly but NO ... our Manager allows Kelly and Harries to take the first two penalties .... FFS ! Really? Was there really no one else more used to kicking a ball at the goal? Garner .... Your tactics are awful, Your decision making is woeful, your record is an insult to the fans ... Your interviews are deluded as you see things we mere mortals clearly miss. It's not simply about tonight ...Bloody Hell the Season hasn't started and this guy with little if any Managerial ability running things has made me totally depressed with MY Club!! I don't know what else to say .... Rant over and I think I need a break from Ben Garner. Get in the queue pal! I think there are a few more after tonight who already see no future under this guy. I’m hoping that more are going to realise that there are certain attributes that he has that are agnostic to his opportunity to manage his own team. His tactics, his inability to coach a defence. He has shown no evidence of any aptitude for these things in ~25 games now. You can give him his own players all you like but when he shows a severe instransigence to get the fundamental basics right then that suggests it’s either way too soon for him or he’s never going to amount to anything in managerial terms ever. He doesn’t need his own players to confirm he isn’t a manager.

Everyone giving him recruitment pats on the back though - bare in mind, that's probably Widdrington working his magic. Garners job is to coach and manage. We can't even get the basics right - yeh, some coach. Worst football manager of all time (not limited to Bristol Rovers) I've seen this Worst Manager Ever thing quote and I assume he is. Anyone know how many games he needs to win to not actually be the worst? I'd assume he would need to put together a good run of 4 or 5 undefeated now just to not be our poorest manager in history?

Perhaps you’d prefer Wael to put us £20m back in debt, sell the training ground and leave? Exactly. It hasnt worked, but I think getting in a young coach who wants to focus on a club philosophy and invest in developing youth is a great idea. I dont hold Wael accountable at all for BGs failure to deliver thus far, but its getting close to the time Wael needs to act ... Having built a new squad to the managers specifications I don’t think we can expect Wael to give him the boot so soon, we haven’t even played a league game yet. I do worry BG’s going to be stubborn with this formation and would be better served going back to basics and a set up the players will be more suited to. I’d like to see 4-3-3 which would suit our attacking players and midfield far better. Another worry is the selection tonight, he’s already had the best part of last season under pressure due to a terrible start and today was an opportunity to field a strong side with players in the correct positions and restore confidence, instead he treated it like another training exercise and experimented!

We will have a lovely club philosophy of developing young players and playing neat and tidy football in our own half but we’ll be doing it in the conference. Garner’s reign is like a slow motion car crash. If he’s still in a job by Christmas we will be in real danger. It looks like Garner is not the right man for the job, but the idea is still sound. Question is then, who would we bring in who would be available and who has the experience of developing kids in a man’s league successfully?

Maybe BG philosophy /dream is correct but this is a results driven business from all aspects. if we stick with BG dream then maybe a DoF is needed in the short/medium term

Harries is so so poor, he is consistent, in all the games I've seen he has proven himself incapable of kicking a football to the players on his own team - that penalty summed up his abilities. And this is Garner's idea of a centre back comfortable on the ball!!!

Doesnt make him a comic either does it? Just because it hasnt worked out for Garner, doesnt mean it's not a good idea. A fool with money is soon departed! What is foolish about appointing a young manager who wants to develop young players? Isnt that an accepted, sensible method to run a football club without racking up huge debts? A fool would spend 100M on a mid table Championship side that sees them develop into....well, a mid table Championship side.

They can point to sod all.

Another tepid performance The number of side ways passes across the back is laughable, the manager needs to understand we are not playing table top subbuteo. There is no suggestion that we will produce performances good enough for the league we are in I get the impression that regardless of what eleven we field this Saturday, we will not be competitive and will be buried. JA looks like he could make a very good player but the formation being used means there is no forward momentum around him. DT also looks good.
