Former Chief Executive and massive Gashead Gordon Bennett has sadly passed away.
He was most recently Head Of Youth Development at Plymouth, I think Ollie took him to Plymouth when he was manager and stayed a number of years.
Gordon did an awful lot for the club as Chief Exec
RIP Gordon

Very sad news. It's been reported on Plymouth's Twitter account that Gordon has passed away. Arguably our greatest ever supporter I remember him by the tunnel at Eastville with his hunting horn and constant encouragement. Later on I worked with him in the office of a printing company. I can tell you he would be depressed if the Youth team lost. A very sad day for the gas.

Really sad to hear this. Remember when he won a national competition to find the best football supporter in the country and he donated his prize to the club.

Fond memories Of Gordon Bennett and being part of his band of singers around the Tunnel at Eastville. His enthusiasm for BRFC was infectious and those games during the mid 60's were so exciting because singing and chanting was quite a new phenomena. He simply bled Bristol Rovers.

Didn't he walk John O'Groats to Lands End to raise money?

Very sad news. Remember him well after moving from the tote end and watching games from the enclosure adjacent to the tunnel as well at many away games in that period. Rip Gordon.

Well that is sad news to wake up to. Went to the same school as Gordon and was a member of 'his' gang in the south enclosure and well remember that horn and very distinctive booming west country voice .He lived and breathed Rovers and did indeed raise loads of money by sponsored walks and the like.A true Rovers legend who will always be mentioned in recollections of our Eastville days, he is deserving of recognition in any wall of fame type tribute in the much dreamed of new stadium complex. Rovers couldn't have a better representative up there !,God bless Gordon and condolences to his family and friends.

Hmm, did you and I go to the same school, Halifax? I knew him at Chipping Sodbury Grammar. He used to run train spotters' clubs and outings. He soon transferred his attention and affection to Rovers. Great, character. RIP Gordon.

Great, character. RIP Gordon. Yep that's the school, 'Here A school was founded' ETC! but to put it kindly i did not cover myself in glory there, my sole claim to fame being selection for the first 11 in football playing along side the likes of Steve Frith(best player by a mile and should have gone all the way!} strange feelings really as though not particularly happy at the school still proud to be a pupil there and to get into first 11!

RIP Gordon. Remember him selling programmes and rosettes in the road by the old cinema at Eastville. Always friendly and certainly moved up with the club he loved from those humble beginnings. Condolences to his family and friends.

R.I.P Gordon. I moved from the Tote to the tunnel and remember him well. I think he missed parts of the game as he would go down to the front, climb on the wall and turn around facing the crowd to start the chanting ! Has to be our best supporter ever.

An over used word at times but surely "legend" has never been more deserved by a Gas fan.

Gordon Bennett was Bristol Rovers. If it wasn’t for all his devoted hard work, there would be no Bristol Rovers today. Spend many a long hour at Eastville doing the clubs work. Rumours were he spent many a night sometimes. RIP Gordon, never to be forgotten.

What a fantastic interview that was/is. Will bring back tear envoking memories for many I am sure. IF we ever do get to a new stadium, Gordon simply must be one of those remembered in some way. Interviews like that just show the class of our club and the fact that the lack of a decent home to call our own is the only thing we all want, have wanted, and desperately need. It’s not a desire, it’s a necessity. RIP Gordon, thank you.
