Starnes on the phone around 83 mins apparently. Durden quipped about it being about transfers. I bloody hope it was Wael pulling the trigger Long way away from that yet. I suspect Wael will want to save face so will give golden bollocks plenty of time to figure out how to manage a team. Yeh....but why this team? Can he not find him another one to learn with 🙄 |

Utterly abysmal performance that. Came into it, really optimistic we would improve on our last performance against Ipswich, after looking a lot more solid at Sunderland and having Jaakkola and Hanlan to bolster us but we were poorer than the cup game in the end.
Offered zilch going forward, especially in the second half where the strikers were isolated and given no service, got dominated in the midfield and conceded two sloppy goals that could of been prevented to lose it.
Garner looked like he had no plan B, waited too long to make substitutions which didn’t have much of a bearing on the game.
Very disappointed by our showing.

Their 2 goals came from us being too weak in midfield and losing the ball. They attacked quickly, cut through the channel and bang. In the net.
I didn't understand the like for like subs either. Why not go 2 big lads up front instead of taking Hanlon off. Also Tutonga for Leahey changed nothing. Strange.

Gas round-up of this summers departures:
Nichols scored, whilst Sam Matthews and Craig started for Crawley in a 1-0 win.
Mennayese had a disappointing game against Orient. Ollie Clarke captained Mansfield as they drew 2-2 after being 2-0 up.
Sercombe played as Cheltenham smashed Tranmere 3-0.
Reilly got 6 minutes for Carlisle.
JCH played the full 90 as Pboro came from being to win 2-1 with two injury time goals.

For me this illustrates why some of us felt that even with his own players it doesn’t change that Garner is fundamentally a poor manager at this point in his career. Last season we nearly set a record of minutes without a goal, he’s now got his own players, had a lot of time on the training pitch and yet we can still barely muster an attack worthy of the name. 2 goals in 4 competitive games and one of those was a penalty. You can give him all the players you like he hasn’t got the nous to make a cohesive whole. Noooooooooo! G-G-GDL . . . G-G-GDL . . . Not expecting anything next week so Northampton will be a must win game. In fact, October is now a crucial month for BG. If he fails to get some wins out of those games then there really is no hope.

It's just a continuation of last season under BG, not really a surprise. It was gamble that hasn't paid off. Being somebody else in now before the season is a write off.

Ben changed the system last season when we were third in league, excuse was he did not have the players to play his system after we went on an abysmal run and could have gone down. Ben is not a manager, sorry but we will not improve with him in charge.

The signs were there in the first half when Ipswich got between the defence and midfield far too easily. Ehmer played the man a few times in the first half and could have got us into trouble. 1 up top wasn't working with zero hold up to bring the two attacking midfielders in. We have a great Keeper and right back on the showing so far this season. Ipswich were poor too until their substitutions, but both goals came from losing possession in midified, first Grant and then Upson. I really like the look of Westbrook, but he was wasted as a 10. JML was completely anonymous. Kilgour looks off the pace. I don't see Garners plan here. The game needed changing at half time. We made the wrong changes too late. I can't help feeling that we allowed Ipswich to take the initiative with their substitutions. Everything about the setup today on and off the pitch was reactive. We did not try to change the game to make things happen.

It was very poor today, seems if a team press high on us our passing game go's out the window, every team will do this, we looked good against Cheltenham when they sat off and possibly the Cardiff friendly but it ain't real life.
Every player looked isolated today with no team cohesion, no game plan. I hope we improve bet so far no good signs.

Ben Garner has managed us for 22 games. "10 more games" will not help him. We need to get rid now, sadly. He's recruited very well, get someone in who can utilise this bunch of players.
