Weird sniping aside, I think Tom is a confidence player. The lack of crowds could play into his hands a bit this season. Worth noting he'd scored 33 in 94 at that level before joining Crawley, a pretty decent record and reasonably young as well. It didn't work out, he didn't choose his transfer fee and he's moved on. I think there are plenty more players we can chastise for their efforts in the quarters before Tom.

I’m pleased for him.
I was at our game at Blackburn in his first season, November I think, we were 2-1 down. Minutes to go. A cross came over to the back post. Tom was there, it was one of those chances that commentators say is easier to score than miss. Tom put it wide. I wonder how many he would have scored for us had he put that one in the net.

I really hope it works out for him in L2. His tenure at Rovers was poor. It didn't work out for him and it didn't work out for the club. Let's face it, based on his record here, he was hardly likely to be given a new contract. Likewise, there was no rush of L1 clubs in the hunt to sign him upon his release.
L2 may be his level but his three seasons at Rovers did not suggest he could hold his own in L1.

Played most weeks for a couple of years in a mid table league 1 side and formed a decent partnership with JCH. Opposition fans often said that he was our best player. He was pretty much ever present last season under Coughlan and when he was shipped out we lost all our attacking balance and JCH went off the boil too. I think Garners biggest mistake last season was going from the two up front Nichols and JCH and shipping Nichols out and then playing JCH as a lone striker. Building a successful team is all about balance but obviously if people forget about that and just look at his goals ratio then yeah he was crap. There’s more to football than that if we look deeper though.

I can never understand why managers never play two strikers upfront. BG biggest problem is that he has been coached at the school of BULLSHIT and he is trying to be the Lower league version of pep guardiola and doing all this tippy tappy Sky/BT TV over coaching rubbish. What the hell is he trying to get us to do when we have a goal kick and we have two players in our own box as our GK takes the kick...? Over thought rubbish..BG needs to get us doing the basics right, but he doesn't even know what they are so how can he coach our players then? Well that's what the stats tell us during the 25 plus games he has been in charge.

I really hope it suddenly clicks and we tear apart the likes of Northampton and Burton and other sides coming up soon playing this way, but I reckon theres about a 1 % chance of that happening.

Results were good with Tommy N in the team. Answer this.. Would you rather have Nichols in the team without Garner or Garner as manager without Nichols. I know which I would choose.

And now you're going on about Garner again when we're talking about Tom Nichols. Your personal crusade against the bloke is pathetic

Not because he is a great player but he would add something we haven't got at the moment (a bit of bite and experience). Like I said those 2 goals have certainly rattled you.

I genuinely hope Ollie Clarke does well with his new club. He was a loyal servant and was committed to the cause for many years.
However, in my opinion, he was found wanting by the higher demands of L1 football.
If Ollie Clarke would improve the present team (and I fully understand that point of view) we are in really series trouble.

I don't rate him but we have too many of the same sort of players (technically OK but no physicality or bite). My expectations and standards have dropped this season. If I wanted us to finish top half then OC is mnot good enough. If I want us to stay up then he probably is.

A reminder it's only worth moving on a player if you replace them with better. In plenty of cases I am not sure we have.

I honestly can't think what possible motivation is in it for you. Preventing a person you've never met from commenting on a professional footballer that you don't know - even if you succeeded that is one infinitesimally small win in life, if you can even call something as peculiar as acting the bully boy on the internet to try to shut down some football chat a win.
